Herbal Essences Set Me Up Maximum Hold Hair Gel with Lily of the Valley Essences, 6 Ounces each (Value Pack of 3)

Sets hair well, keeps sheen, smells great.

I used this gel for years before it disappeared from stores. It isn't the least bit sticky and has a lovely light floral fragrance that isn't overpowering. I apply it to very damp hair and distribute with brush, putting hair where I want it to go, then let it dry and brush out. Hair stays put all day, much smoother than with a hair dryer, which seems to add frizz, and doesn't look gelled. With short hair, a round brush adds lift and separates curls at top and back. With long hair, a finishing brush with rounded bristle tips works for me. Without gel, my hair looks frizzy. Herbal Essences makes two other gels that I've tried. The Botanical Mango & Aloe gel smells wonderful but is very sticky. The Totally Twisted Curl Scrunching Gel works, but I don't care for the scent nor want a scrunched curly-all-over look. The Set Me Up liquid gel and the Mousse are also very good products but the spray can go where it's not wanted and mousse is messy. The Set Me Up gel in a tube is just right. It costs more online than it did when available in stores but a little goes a long way and compared to a salon brand that I used for a while, at $23 a tube, it's relatively inexpensive.

I’ve been using this for 20 years so it must be good, in my opinion.

The individual cans were plastic wrapped together securely. No use of tape which leaves the can sticky.Overall excellent!Thank you so much!

My curls are big and smooth never had a gel work better. Need for them to make this again cant find anything that works better

Review by the husband. I have been growing my hair for 6 months+ now and my hair is JUST long enough to get into a full head ponytail just around the top back portion of my head. My hair is VERY THICK, meaning the volume of my hair is high. So this gel does NOT hold my hair all day. My brother in law suggested this to me as he has long hair like mine, only a mohawk though. I have a full head of hair and this does not hold my hair like I want it, if you have thick hair, and you're going to be using it for styling then it might work, however a head ponytail will definitely have fly aways and loose hairs and you will have to reapply, if you're looking for something that describe what I am looking for, the one thing I found to work great is a WAX, I use a BedHead brand WAX and that will keep your hair in place ALL DAY. However it does make your hair partially hard, but that's how it stays in place, and it is not fun to sleep in, so you'd have to wash it out at the end of the night, if you don't you WILL have to in the morning because your hair will be jacked up and the WAX is too strong to restyle with what's left haha.

Sooooo sad & disappointed to learn this amazing product has been discontinued. It was literally the only thing that worked on my frizzy/curly hair. I have been on the hunt for a replacement for months- meanwhile, my hair has never looked worse. Please please please consider bringing the gel back.
