I like it, but I understand that it is not ...
Inexpensive product that does the job for my small house. I like it, but I understand that it is not industrial grade and must be handled/used carefully. Id does my carpets in a 1400 sq ft house nicely - but you do have to re-tighten the handle occasionally. A good product for the price.

Carpet Rake effectively renews your carpet
Repeated vacuuming of the carpet tends to train the carpet to lay in one direction in tight areas. Heavy traffic areas can also wear a carpet in a beaten down pattern. The carpet rake has stiff plastic teeth to perk up and fluff the carpet fibers when you rake in the perpendicular direction of the normal vacuuming pattern you use. This renews the way the carpet looks, especially in high traffic areas like to the kitchen or a bedroom. The rake is lightweight with a plastic handle and very easy to use. The teeth or comb on the rake is stiff plastic so it is strong enough for household use. It is too lightweight for commercial use. I gave it four stars because the end cap of the handle comes off if you grip the top of the handle; somewhat irritating but given its price and rake is well worth the purchase. I use it once a week just in the high traffic areas and the narrow places between the walls and the furniture where you can only vacuum in one direction.

Take THAT, dog hair!
I had high hopes for this product, and it didn't let me down. It's all in one piece, no assembly, so I was able to pull it out of the (huge!) box and try it out right away. I have 2 black labs, and a beige carpet, so you can just imagine. Not only does the carpet rake remove all the hair from the middle of the carpet (and make the fibers stand tall), but it gets right into the thin space between the carpet and the wall. The rake has 2 rows of flexible plastic bristles that are a couple of inches long. I found that you can rake and rake and rake before you have to empty the bristles. As you rake, the pet hair just gets more and more compacted in the bristles, which makes it very easy to remove the mess from the bristles all in one clump. You only need a light touch, and I would recommend not pressing too hard. The bristles will last longer.I have one small complaint (so I'd give it 4 1/2 stars if I could) and one suggestion for improvement. The complaint is that the handle seems just a little short to me. I'm only 5'3", and I found myself having to bend a little. It would've been nice to have a longer or, even an adjustable, handle. The suggestion for improvement has to do with the lifespan of the bristles. Once enough of them get broken, you'd have to throw away the rake and buy a new one. I think the manufacturer should make the bristle component replaceable.

Wanted this to work...it didn't.
I am disappointed with this product. This was my first time buying a carpet rake, having heard its wonders from some of my cleaning-addicted/OCD friends, so I really wanted it to WORK to justify my purchase and to fluff my carpet. (There's a joke in there somewhere.)Unfortunately, this is a cheaply made, poorly constructed product that is, in my opinion, trash. It comes with three, hollow, metal cylinders (to form the handle), and the white base as in the picture, with thin, brittle, bristles. I realized how brittle it was when I simply took it out of the box and two bristles broke immediately (or broke in transit).I then tried to use the rake base, on my hands and knees, on my carpet and a rug. It does nothing.Still wanting it to work, I thought of physics; perhaps it would work with the extra leverage of the handle. The handle does not easily fit together and, when aligned, are never solidly conjoined. The handle parts twist with each movement.STILL wanting it to work, I thought, "Okay, well maybe if it doesn't rake the carpet, it can at least get the cat hair [I own two cats] out of the corners." IT DOESN'T WORK. The narrow attachment for my vacuum would do a better job.I think the idea of a carpet rake is great! Get really in there...tussle up underlying cat hair, people hair, and what-have-yous, and vacuum it all up. It makes sense to me and, if it worked, this would totally justify this being sold as a legit product. Unfortunately, this one just doesn't cut it. If you have matted, heavy traffic parts of carpet, I personally recommend you look elsewhere.

Amazing carpet rake! I am a believer!
I have all tile floors, except for the bedrooms have a very low pile carpet and I have one rug. We bought our house and the carpets showed very obvious spots of where the previous tenants walked and I have been struggling to get the carpets clean and the pile back up to look decent. Our rug is sat on daily by myself and two children and also has spots where it is matted down. The groom industries perky carpet rake made a huge different not only in the matted spots on the rug but after I raked up and down and then side to side I vacuumed and wow, there was a ton of stuff down in there. The same with the carpets! I have a reminder set to take the carpets and rug weekly for a month and then monthly after that.Yes, the rake is plastic but it gets the job done! I hope you all find this helpful.

The area that we didn't rake just didn't look great even after vacuuming
Came just as pictured. and WOW! the difference it made in how clean my carpet gets. My husband though I just bought junk so we tested it. In two high traffic areas in my house. One area we used the rake and the other we didn't. The area that we didn't rake just didn't look great even after vacuuming. So we raked it and to our amazement you could hear particles going into the vacuum and the carpet looked fresher and fluffier than before. It took along time for our vacuum to stop sensing particles and for the lights to stop blinking so we just kept vacuuming different angles and once the vacuum stopped we knew we had all the stuff out of the carpet. We now use the rake every time before we vacuum.
