FANTASTIC!
Alan Davey certainly out-did himself with his new album," Hawkestrel 'Pioneers of Space'". Powerful, well produced with a line-up of who's who, both past and present, including Lemmy Kilmister, Todd Rundgren, Huw Lloyd-Langton, Bridget Wishart, Ginger Baker, Carmine Appice, Paul Rudolph, multi award winning author/musician Michael Moorcock, and many others. From the stand-out opening track,, 'Biometrics' through the final track, this is one album that should be in everyone's musical collection.

Sounds from Space
I'm glad this album finally arrived alittle late but still it's in great condition and so far is playing great tunes! Music to my ears...bzz.

Nice sounds, missing the memorable riffs, though
Hawkestrel’s second go at it is filled with some nice moments, but fails to be memorable despite a super-ex-Hawkwind lineup. Nothing like the recent quality space rock being churned out by Brock’s mothership. This is good for a listen, but maybe not repeated.

Hawkestrel - 'Pioneers Of Space' (Purple Pyramid)
Every bit as essential as Hawkestrel's 'The Future Is Us' CD (see my review). Couldn't get enough of the well-received eight-minute opener "Biometrics" (featuring Joel Vandroogenbroeck, Simon House, Mick Taylor and Gilli Smyth), "Cosmic Divide" [has a good vibe to it], the rocking "Day Of The Quake" (could've easily been a Hawkwind or a Nik Turner song), "Glass Wolves" (with Arthur Brown on vocals) and "Atmospheric Window" (poet / author Michael Moorecock on vocals). Also thoroughly enjoyed the near-brilliant "No Doubt" (with HW alumni Mick Slattery on guitar), the awesome "Journey" and the stunning title track closer "Pioneers Of Space" - featuring Carmine Appice on drums, Wayne Kramer - lead guitar and David Cross - violin & cello. Also available on limited edition 500 copies of red vinyl lp. Includes a special 12" EP - with four songs. Including their Rush cover "2112 Overture" and the so-so "Portrait In Ivory". Includes an eight-page CD booklet. Duration - 46:01. Highly recommended.
