The Freeride is NTN's workhorse binding, a revolutionary free-heel machine that redefines the Telemark experience. Because it connects to the boot at two points, creating a more secure boot/binding interface, the Rottefella NTN Freeride binding delivers unparalleled performance and power transfer to the ski edges for dynamic turns, better control at speed and greater edge hold on hard surfaces. The design also allows several other benefits for skiers, including lateral release, step-in convenience, a free-pivot touring mode and three springs of different tensions to accommodate skiers of different sizes and ability levels, as well as different ski conditions. With its innovative Mounting Plate and Hell, the NTN Freeride binding can be used on multiple pairs of skis.

My new favorite thing
Most exciting thing in skiing since shaped skis. I'm still a little scared of the release system; It is hard to predict. Great for touring. Hold up fine in the park (I had them release to tour mode on a large jump once.) Smooth tele turns in any style. One can even make perfect alpine bump turns with these. Contrast that with some of the AT bindings that i've shattered trying to bump ski. One thing to watch for is that the ski brakes can tangle on when skiing narrow. I have them on a pair of 1080 moguls and i've been tempted to hack off the inner part of the brake.

Awesome
I've been using traditional cable telemark bindings for years. Finally decided to make the switch to NTN. It's quite an investment in the beginning, but so worth it. These bindings put so much power into the edges. Plus, if you're feeling lazy, you can easily make alpine turns on these. And you can really pressure the tongue of the boot without feeling like you are going to face plant. Plus, releasability. If you've been thinking about making the switch, don't hesitate.Side note: I ski fast and hard on big stiff skis, and that's what these bindings do best. If you are looking for a less active/more neutral feeling binding, you may find the Freeride to be a bit overpowering.

Be aware of popping into tour mode!!
Yes...They do work...sometimes. Not fun when you are skiing along and boom!!! It pops into tour mode. Yes...I might not have locked it down most times but I am sure I did times that it still blew out. The toe plate on a friend's binding failed and yes, a month later it was fixed. No readily available parts to fix this system. They are also a bit heavy and not that easy to step into.
