WHAT HAPPENED TO THE OLD GINGER DESIGN??
So sad - Reef Ginger sandals in black have been my go-to flip flops for over 10 years, but the new design is AWFUL. The soles are much thicker & feel really heavy/clunky on your feet, and the straps are WAY tighter than the old model. They actually cut into my feet slightly (which both looks and feels awful), whereas they never did this before. Plus, the new tread of the shoe is terrible - the bottom is comprised of small lines that have absolutely no traction, to the point of being unsafe (I've slipped several times on smooth tile flooring, which was NEVER a problem with the old grips that had the reef logo on the bottom). All in all, this is so disappointing!! These flip flops used to fit so well & looked really nice on my feet. They could be dressed up or down, and were my favorite, go-to sandal that I wore almost daily. Unfortunately, I can't even wear this new model & will no longer be purchasing them :(

Are these genuine reef brand?
I'm pretty sure these are not genuine reef sandals. The logo on the footbed has a square around it. Also the tread does not contain the "reef" tread. Spend the extra $10 and make sure you're getting the brand you're paying for.

I LOVED THEM. They were so comfortable I would wear ...
I have been through three pairs of these flip flops in the past ten years. I LOVED THEM. They were so comfortable I would wear them all the time (and I walk a lot), and they are simple so I could wear them with most outfits. HOWEVER, I recently ordered a new pair on Amazon because my old ones are about to break, and they are totally different. The material is different - much stiffer and less flexible with a more pronounced arch - and worse yet the sizing is different. I have always worn size 9, but I ordered the exact same size and they are too small. This is not about my feet as of course my old ones still fit (and my feet haven't changed size). See the pictures for the difference (not great photo quality and my old ones look kinda gross I know hah)I was hoping they may just have been a poor product from Amazon but I checked the product on the Reef website and saw that the photos do match this exact new design (at least back part of the shoe is identical). I also saw that other people have complained on the Reef website reviews about this change as well.I'm only bothering to write this in the hopes that Reef sees and goes back to their original design. Please return to the old style as I really loved them and haven't found any other flip flops comparable in comfort (and these new ones definitely don't cut it). I am so disappointed.

Disappointing
I’ve been wearing Reef sandals for years. Unfortunately these Reefs have changed. I went to my prior amazon order of the exact sandal and used the “buy again” option. The new sandal was smaller and narrower. Overall it also feels heavier. I had to return and order a size up. I normally wear a 7.5. I had a size 8 and now had to go up to 9. I’m keeping the 9 so will see if they end up as comfortable as the old reefs were. If not I’ll have to find a new brand which is very disappointing after 20 years of Reefs. If you’ve never owned Reefs you may be happy with these. Just be sure to order a size up.

these are not the Reef sandals we've known and loved for years
Disappointing fit--like many other reviewers posted, these are not the Reef sandals we've known and loved for years. I normally wear a 7.5 so I ordered a sz 8. My toes barely fit width wise (pinky toe is half off the edge) the length is just ok--could be a bit longer. Straps are tighter on the instep than is comfortable. The cushion feels good but the arch support feels off and definitely not as pronounced as expected. The Reef's I've had for 10 yrs---and still wear almost daily---are a size 7 with PLENTY of room width and length wise and still have great arch support. They don't make that style anymore and I wanted a backup pair---these Gingers are not fitting the bill. Sent them back. I tried on other styles in a few stores and they didn't fit very well either. C'mon Reef!

Slipping hazard!!!
I can't tell you how many times I have almost slipped stepping out of my car into the driveway (a dry driveway, not wet) or from a carpet to the hard wood floor or even just walking in the house with these flip flops!!!! The bottoms seem to have some sort of fabric layer that apparently makes it super simple to slide, which is terrible!!! I have decided to stop wearing them so I don't end up hurting myself! I didn't have this problem with my old Reefs. Really disappointed.

Listen to the other Low Star reviews
Not much to say except listen to the other low star reviews here, I will just be reiterating what they all said about the poor quality, uncomfortable fit, TERRIBLE TERRIBLE traction (beware on tile floors or in stores- you are liable to break your neck!) because for whatever reason they decided to change the entire design of this flip flop. The straps on the thong cut into my feet on top - maybe due to this slightly smaller & cheaply cut fit?Not really sure why REEF decided to completely scrap their superior product for this poorly made knockoff.I find myself gripping onto the flip flop when I walk since they feel unstable, they slip left and right (heels come off) as you walk... so yeah.... still wearing my old ones from 10years ago with worn out soles, they are still better than these new ones. I guess that's why though, people were getting too many years out of their old REEF's and that's bad for busine$$. Not as bad as completely changing the quality of the flip flop for this crud though... I'll never buy REEF again after this.Really disappointed, but I had to learn for myself. Do yourself a favor, LISTEN TO THE 1 STAR REVIEWERS, don't waste your money.

Excellent and no blisters
I’ve had Reef flip flops before. They lasted 20 + years. Only had to replace as my dog chewed one.Same excellent design giving arch support. The webbing fabric has never rubbed my feet or given blisters. The thickness of these flip flops is much better than other flip flops, you can’t feel every stone or crack in floor under feet.Smart enough for beach to evening wear.

These are my all time favourite flipflops.
Both my husband and I will only buy flipflops from reef as they are great quality and very comfortable.I bought this pair to replace a pair I had used for about 5 years and there was still nothing wring with them other than a little faded. They are a fantastic product and can be machine washed. My foot size is 2.5 and I bought a 3 which is a perfect fit. The arch support means that you are comfortable all day and the sole provide grip even on slippery tiles.I would not be without a pair and I do hope they don;t stop making them. In fact, if I could I would will be stocking up to ensure I have a lifetime supply.

Great sandals
I have had a pair of these previously, they are very comfortable, fit well, the arch support means that my feet don't ache after wearing for a while. I normally take a 7.5 - 8 in shoe size, bought an 8, perfect fit.

Most comfortable and well made flip flop on the market!
These are the most comfortable and well made flip flops. I have only ever worn reefs, each pair has lasted 10 years and they have been used for walking on hilly terrain in the Alps each year. They have support for the shape of your foot, some grip on the sole and they mould to fit your feet. Sizing is very odd. In the past the size of your foot was the size you bought. I am a 6.5 and bought a 7, I had to return and buy an 8. There was no issue with returns and it was all done very quickly. So as with other reviews buy a minimum of a size bigger than normal. It will be worth it when you get them.

Perfect flip flops
I love Reef Gingers. I’ve been buying them for years and I always regret buying anything else. So comfy and I can walk miles in them. These are just as good as ever. Sizing is small, so you definitely need to size up.
