The bridge between HVT and HIT
A thinking bodybuilder/exercise enthusiast will find value in this book and method. A thinking person will also notice that the two one-star reviews were left by individuals (or one damaged individual?) minus the cajones to use their real name. Enough said. This method is unique; understanding and implementing it made bodybuilding 'fun' again. Particularly once one grasps the need for variation. For the natural trainee, there's not a book I'd recommend before it.

Beware of false prophets who don't own the book
Full disclosure, the troll above does not own the book (he pointed that out, which should be a fair warning). I had 20 years training experience before ever meeting or working with Mike Mentzer, whose program I dropped because it did not produce results (his Consolidation concept). Mike never helped me to improve my physique. The Zone Training method is what allowed me to increase my lean mass by nearly 10 pounds naturally and at age 40.

Stick with Mentzer, Darden and Little.
full disclosure; i do not own a copy of this book, but I have corresponded many times with the author and have read his blogs. Johnston built his muscles under the tutelage of the late bodybuilding champ, Mike Mentzer, then turned his back On HIT to try to build his own brand of training with made up silly protocols. Do not waste your time or money.
