TuffRiderChildren's Ventilated Schooling Riding Tights

Have to say this brand is quality. Ordered a small originally for my thin 7 year old for riding camp and was slightly big. XS fit perfect. She is almost 48" tall 50lbs with 22-23 waist/hip and 24-25 butt. Her everyday pants are 6/6x or 6-7. Pants have a small pocket inside waist. Best of all she loved them.

I first bought these tights in medium a year ago for my very thin 9 year old daughter. She needed something to ride in for summer camp and lessons in the heat. These are well ventilated and the best riding pants I've been able to find for hot weather (much cooler than a more expensive brand we bought recently). I bought a second pair to keep her going through the summer. I only hand washed and air dried them but after a year of use she was outgrowing them by height (they were still loose on her) and they were losing some of their form. I just bought our 3rd pair and went up to size large for a 55 inches tall 60 lbs 10 year girl. These fit great in length but too big in the waist - however the waist band is easily folded over. They are roomy for her since she is so thin but they will work fine for her and she is happy to have a new pair heading into the summer.

I'm a bit shocked that no one has mentioned this but the inner lining stitching is not covered and protrudes. What this means is that you have the equivalent of protruding scratchy stitching irritating your kids legs from bottom to top! The company selling it is great but this is a fatal flaw in the design of the product we had to return ours and would not recommend.

There's a fatal design flaw in the choice of fabrics and in how the knee patch is sewn into the tights, creating a rubbery surface inside the tight at the knee and an especially thick, abrasive, rubbery seam. My daughter wore these tights during an hour-long riding lesson and got blisters inside her legs that required antibiotic cream and band-aids to heal, making riding painful for several days. The blisters actually left scars. I've been looking for a way to sew or iron some kind of lining material into the patch to salvage the purchase, but I will never again order these tights in the future.

My daughter says these are very soft and cozy, so 5 stars for comfort. However I was surprised at how thin they are! I cannot imagine them lasting long. Also they don't look very nice on. My daughter is thin and the waist is too loose. For reference her waist is 25.5" she weighs 78lbs and is almost 5'1". She has the Tuffrider Artemis equicool leggings in the same size (L/12) and those fit perfectly at the waist/hips. The Artemis also seem of much higher quality. Because these leggings are so loose and thin, a tucked in shirt looks all bumpy under the pants. The little pocket in the front is even visible through the pants. A thicker, wider waistband would have been better (like the Artemis equicool line) i usually love Tuffrider but I will be returning these.

We own a few pairs of these for my 9yr old daughter. I ordered this pair as a Christmas gift to complete an outfit for riding lessons. I ordered in October, knowing they would be a gift. However, when she opened them on Christmas morning they were sized much differently than her other pairs of the same style / same size. They are too short and she won’t be able to wear them with her paddock boots. I held them up to her other pants and the difference was obvious...off by a couple of inches. I regret not opening the package prior to Christmas morning and looking for myself, but because we already owned other pairs, I wasn’t worried about the sizing. I tried to request a return or exchange, but because it was outside of the return policy window, it was declined. We will instead donate them (brand new) to the used items closet at the riding barn. Otherwise, the quality seems good and she really liked the color of the pants with the blue stripe. Disappointed they wouldn’t let us return for a different size.

I like the idea of ventilated tights in the brutal summer heat, so I bought some for my daughter to wear to horsemanship camp and her regular lessons. They're very light weight and extremely comfortable.My one complaint is that the knees aren't reinforced very well, even though they do have a little "grippy" patch on them, and there are no belt loops. (Had I ordered a size up for my daughter, which would have been the proper length on her, they would have fallen right off her skinny butt. With no way to put a belt on her, we had to size down, which looked more like capris on her.)

Don't know if washing them would've helped as we returned them. The search continues...

Purchased 24” for my daughter which is the size she is wearing in all riding tights however these were tiny. Material appeared very thin too.returned

I was a little worried these would be too thin but they’ve been great for summer riding. Lots of stretch, comfy riding tights with grips in the right places. You would probably find them too thin for all day riding, but for short riding sessions and general stable work on hot days, they’re perfect.

These are excellent value my daughter loves them and won’t wear jodhpurs now , very comfortable to ride in and a great fit
