HENG'S IND Heng's 5050 Butyl Tape

My father and I worked with some guys that one day gave us a strip of black, sticky gunk and told us it would be a gamechanger for wrenching on stuff. They called the gunk "Pucky".Were they ever right!! This stuff is a lifesaver when it comes to dealing with fasteners where you can't use two hands! We've used a lot of the strip we'd received from those guys, so my father had me order this.Anyone that's wrenched enough has been in these types of situations:1. You need to guide a screw down a deeply recessed hole. The screw ISN'T magnetic, and the hole isn't big enough for your fingers to stay on the screw to guide it. The screwdriver you're using can't hold on to the screw as you lower it either.2. You need to thread a nut onto a bolt in a tight space. You can fit a socket with the nut inside on the bolt threads, but the nut just gets pushed back into the socket.A little blob of this Butyl tape will make both of these difficult example situations so much more bearable. In the first situation, put a little blob on of this tape in the screw head so the screw sticks to the screwdriver. You can lower the screw down without it falling off the screwdriver. In the second example, carefully lining the socket with a little bit of this tape will keep the nut in place and allow you to thread it onto the bolt. If you haven't guessed already, my father and I have been in situations like this numerous times, and this tape was a catalyst for making the work easier.So, some may be asking, if I'm raving about this tape so much, why only four stars? This stuff is REALLY sticky, and the manufacturer packs it in a PLASTIC BAG. Getting this roll out was a huge pain and I had to spend about 20 minutes trying to pick out the tape that stayed stuck in the bag. Storing this tape is also tricky because of it's sticky nature. The manufacturer would really help out customers if they packaged this tape in a reusable, closing plastic box. Even if this raised the price by a few dollars, having an easier way to get the roll of tape out, and having a way to store it easily would be well worth the extra cost.

Purchased to reseal the seams on my 1959 vintage camper. Previously used putty tape because the rv shop had recommended it...extremely glad I found actually butyl now. This stuff is way stickier and seems like it’s going to do an excellent job. Previous sealant on my camper was half putty/half butyl and where the butyl is its hard as hell to get off. That’s a good thing! Hopeful it’ll last a long time.

I bought this to keep on hand for RV repairs. It's great for stopping up leaks in window frames, roofs or just about anywhere else on an RV. My RV doesnt leak thank goodness but I'm ready if it suddenly starts! I was afraid this tape would be a melted mess because I ordered it in the summer. RAther than "tape", It's more like putty that gets really gooey in the heat. My fears were unfounded though. It arrived perfectly fine but I do recommend keeping it in the fridge till needed.

Hunted a long time to find this stuff and bought a number of rolls of similar material that did not do the job of sealing that this stuff does. You know that piece of heavy plastic wrap they put between a steel car door and the door card? The black junk they use to adhere it to the door? This is it.Learned that wetting fingers and tools keeps them from sticking to it otherwise it is hard to work with because it sticks to everything. This is one of my new favorite things, like duct tape, WD-40, and Shoe Goo.

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Perfect for adding weather sealing to just about any application. Unfortunately no where local carries this product, but Amazon did! Keep it air-tight to ensure the longevity of unused butyl.

This stuff is sticky but it is the absolutely the worst packaged item I have ever bought. Came package in a plastic bag and was completely stuck to the bag on both sides and one side was crushed down. Took me a good 45 minutes to peal the plastic off and part of the roll is unusable from being completely crushed.. I would have returned it but I need to get this job done but will never order again !!

Perfect for the risers for my septic tank lids. Super sticky, the compound peeled off the tape easily, 80-90 no fuss, and the price was nice. Tried removing one of the risers after Install because of a mistake, it was a chore even with all the added leverage from the riser. Would buy again if needed.

I used this to fix the window vapor barrier on my 325i. It was a little difficult to unravel but once I got it on the door it worked great. Mine was white, not black like the picture. Can’t beat the price.
