Haier HPN10XCM 10000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Remote

Right out of the box it did not work. Called seller and Haier but neither one could get a technician on the phone to help. Not even an operators manual in the box OR online. Had an AC tech come and check it, told us it was not operational (probably a faulty plug) and to send it back. This is the worst product we have ever bought from Amazon, have always been happy with our Amazon purchases (over 100 in the last 6 months) until now.

Perfect for my daughters apartment

I wanted to leave a good, honest review after having used this portable air conditioner (model HPN10XCM). I originally purchased mine online from home depot because it was much cheaper and they have a good return policy l and warranty on it. That being said, I use mine in a 15 x 12 room with a tall 15 ft vaulted ceiling at the top of a 4 story apartment that gets unbearably hot and even with normal ac on the room stays around 85 degrees. Before getting this portable ac our apt would literally bake us alive and with the central AC running non-stop it was costing us a few hundred a month in electric. This is the BEST thing I have ever got for myself and it works amazing.One things I really like about it are that it is very quiet. It makes a lot less noise than my box fan, and I would compare it to the noise level of any other mid size fan that you barely notice. It's really not much noise at all. Before buying this model I did a lot of research - days worth of googling which is the best product before I made a decision. This one is rated for 350 Sq feet but will work wonders in a bedroom like mine. I would recommend this over a 8,000 btu because it will cool the room quicker and work less hard than a small one. It cools down my hot oven of a room very fast and has a remote, timer, and will kick on to maintain a set temp. What I really like is that it self evaporates. This is SO much better than the other models I was looking at because the other ones require that you drain it and it fills up fast. In the humid summer here you would be draining those things once a day into a bucket which is annoying. The self evaporator is clearly a better choice. It has good airflow when the fan is on high and the best part is that I stopped running my ac in the apt 24/7 and saved around $120 a month, so in 1 summer I lived extremely comfortable because I sleep better when it's cool and I ended up saving enough money to have it pay for itself after a few months.Rarely do I get on here to leave a review especially a long written one because I'm just using the amazon app and have to type it all on my phone but this portable ac really deserves a 5 star rating. It's unfortunate that the other person who got one that didn't work left a bad review but that should not stop you from picking one up from a local store or even ordering through amazon.

Purchased summer `15, just died. 3 yrs old & dead. Something let loose inside unit & made such a noise, scared the hell out of me. Tripped circuit brkr in plug. Good thing, might have started a fire. Won`t go with this brand ever again.

I did a good bit of research before choosing this specific model. I'm using it in my 16' x 14' master bedroom with 9' ceilings and a HUGE window to the East. Our central air was undersized and this room was at 76°F by 9AM. I have chronic pain and anything over 68°F exacerbates it. I didn't have to fight mother nature completely, but I needed something that could reduce the temperature by 8-14° and this is doing the job.Do not believe the postings that say this is identical to other Haier 10000 BTU models except for color. The other units measure 54-63 db spl. This one is steady at 49 (and that's on high!) providing a white noise background that helps you sleep. No hard "thump" as the compressor engages, no screeching fans or whistling air ducts.I will update if it disappoints me in the future.My only "regret" is that Amazon is $50+ more expensive than Some Depot. In the past when I've added an outside item to my wish list I have magically received a competitive offer from Amazon, but that didn't happen this time. This might be because inventory is disappearing rapidly from other stores.
