Better Filters Available Now
This was a replacement for an older one that I had for at least 6 years. This one began to not turn on fully after about 2 1/2 years. Water would flow from the faucet and the filter part. It delivered good filtered water, but like the rest of this style, flow rate is very slow while filtering. Last year I replaced this with the Kintim 1200 Gallons Faucet Water Filter. That is far superior to this Dupont filter. Water flows about as fast filtered water as unfiltered. The water quality is also very good. I rarely recommend anything, but I highly recommend the Kintim. See my review of that one here, https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R2MKV66GFEAVXX/ref=cm_cr_getr_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B093DL5CFZ

Med Student-- Moves a lot-- BEST filter ever-- UNTIL it stopped working within a year...
Literally the BEST water filter I have used, ever. I tried Brita-- the pitcher one that stays in the fridge, and two of the ones that attach to the sink. They cracked and broke easily all the time. This one is sturdy, easy to install, and tells you how long the filter will go. On the top, it tells you the kind of filter that's inside. So it came with a 200 gallon filter, so thats what it says on the top-- "200". Then, on the screen that faces you, it will light up blue when you are running the water. It tells you how much it has filtered so far, in gallons. These filters last WAYYYYY longer than the brita ones, which I believe have to be replaced after ~60 gallons. This apparatus came with a 200 gallon filter, but there are 500 gallon ones that are available as replacements as well. This one seems so so much sturdier-- I think I can save it and take it with me as I move around Philadelphia. Each time I moved before, I had to buy a new Brita... they were so cheap. GET THIS ONE!! I have had it for 3 months and it's worked amazingly.UPDATE------- 6/8/2015--------Still working like a charm. Both my boyfriend and I live together and use it on a regular basis; we haven't have to change the filter once yet. It's still under 200 gallons. It's lasted almost a year, about 10 months now. Highly recommend!!UPDATE 7/20/15----LED light stopped working. Have no idea how to tell when is it time to change the filter now, as we can no longer see how many gallons we have used. We opened it up, let it dry out, even changed the battery, and it's still not working. I contacted AMAZON for information about the 4 year warranty, but they told me to contact the manufacturer, which I did this morning... so I'm just waiting to hear. Will update once something changes. Downgraded from 5 to 3 stars as it didn't last quite a year, and replacement/repair has not been easy so far...

It’s a filter not a purifier, there is a difference.
It’s a filter not a purifier, there is a difference, big one. I see a lot of reviewers mentioning no big difference in ppm measured between their tap water and this filtered water. You are not going to see a big difference, if any at all, at least in measured ppm. When you turn on your faucet, water first passes through a non-woven screen around the filter. This screen traps sediment like sand and dirt. Next, the water flows through a compressed block of carbon and zeolite. Each little carbon granule has millions of little pores on the surface. These pores act like a sponge, and are great for removing chemicals like chlorine. The slower that water flows through the carbon, the more contact time carbon has with water, and the more chemicals can be removed. They’re great at taking out chlorine, and they aerate the water which makes it taste better. The main downside with these filters is the limited improvement that they actually make to water quality. So it is filtering your tap water even though you are not seeing a huge difference in the measured ppm. Most tap water in U.S. cities should be around 180-250ppm. My tap at my apartment in center city Philadelphia is measuring at 236ppm and with this filter system it is measuring at 224ppm, but there is a huge difference in the way the water tastes, it’s so much better. This filter system does a pretty good job improving my tap water within the technology of the system capabilities. If you want drinking water measured at ~8ppm (or input whatever low number you want here) you need a purifing system. You could also buy purified bottled water. Generic purified bottled water will actually measure lower in ppm than generic spring water and is usually a few pennies cheaper to boot.

Looks like it will work well, looks great
I received this tap water filter in great shape. The only disappointing part was that it came much later than the original expected date but I did get it and it seems to work as I hoped. I have only had it for about a month, so not sure about long term yet. The late date is the only reason for the 3 stars, no reflection on the product at all.

Have been using since 2016
Bought this in 2016 and it still works on the original filter and battery. Obviously I do not drink a lot of tap water.
