Easy to use - catches crabs easily
Just used at Lawson's Landing (Bodega Bay), Ca. I used from the beach - threw it (and also used a fishing pole and threaded the rope through the eye hooks to cast farther). Very easy to use. Only let soak for 10 mins. First pull in was 5 crabs (unfortunately all too small to keep). Bait bag is good, as it is difficult for crabs to get the bait out. But, bag breaks down or gets cut from the claws after a while. I re-secured the bag to the metal rod as the tie strips broke after 10 throws (or from crabs biting). Easier to throw if you add a little weight in the bag - a big fishing weight is what I used). Highly recommend over the snare traps I had been using...

Good casting crab trap for the $
Works as advertised. I have used it on blue crabs in a light current. Opened every time and landed upright. The bait bag works great easy to load and unload with whatever bait you want. The crabs do manage to get tangled up some times but what net doesn't have that problem with crabs. The 100 ft line is ok but I plan to change it . Just make sure to wash it after every time you use it.

Doesn't work well for blue crabs.
It's almost good. It probably works ok for large crabs, but the mesh is too big for the blues crabs I tried to catch. I'm planning to put some finer mesh under the existing mesh to see if that will work better. Otherwise, the mechanism works well, and it's easy to handle.

Great value, suitable for beginners and pros alike
Great bit of kit, compact yet good size when unfolded. Don't forget to zip-tie a fair bit of weight to the middle. Sea lions took a zip-tied chicken drumstick but left the baited bait bag (that came with the kit) alone, although the zip ties broke so we had to re-attach it with stronger ones. If you're using the rope, watch for abrasion if you're pulling it up over a rough surface - our rope got worn through by repeatedly hauling the trap up over the edge of a rough concrete pier. Great value & effective, pulled up a Dungeness on a day when nothing else worked. Can also be attached to the end of a fishing pole for casting - there's videos online of people crabbing really successfully that way.

Great little net trap.
This worked so well! It's smaller than most others we saw on the pier, but it does it's job! I would get two so you can rotate nets. This most crab we pulled up in one catch with this net was 4. Great value! I loved how when tension is applied that the net closes up. It's a little extra comfort that the crab aren't going to escape

Great trap, used it to catch dungeness in Northern California. One morning I pulled 6 crabs out of this trap and we only pulled three all morning from our hoop style traps. I got this because its compact and I can motocamp with it very easily. I DID NOT use the original rope that it came with. I picked up a cheap 100ft rope separate. I will probably only keep one of these but for the size the quality and use was great. In the pic you can see I had to tie a rock to it because the current was so strong it wouldnt get to the bottom. This is an issue with almost any trap but a cage.

Get your saltwater boiling and your butter melted.
I get my limit of crab every time I go out! I like it better than the crab hawk because it's slightly bigger and will hold more crab. I didn't give it 5 stars because there's a little bit of rust on it after three trips to the ocean and because the netting on one of my traps actually tore. It seemed to have rotted due to saltwater. It was an easy repair though. Another fault the trap has are that the holes in the netting are rather large. Small crab tend to get tangled in the netting and are difficult to free, especially when they're trying to pinch. Otherwise, it's great value for the money and they're easy to use. You can throw them just as far as anyone using the smaller casting traps. I've seen guys using 12' surf rods to cast those and they aren't getting any further out than I can throw these by hand. They're a good buy. You'll catch crab.

One-and-Done
The trap is very easy to use and light weight! We had the most luck with it in shallow water where we could see the crabs, place the trap near them, and haul it up once they were on it. The only problem with this trap is that it's a one-and-done item. It was very common for the crabs to get caught in the netting, with the only solution to be cutting the cutting to retrieve the crabs
