Crescent City and del Norte County

Typical of this series, what you get for your money is a collection of historical pictures and explanatory captions to accompany them. I love story, so I'm often left feeling like there is much more that could be said. But this book is meant to mostly be about the pictures, and those indeed are diverse and interesting snapshots of a world long past most living memory.

Quick, but informative. You can really zoom in on the images with the kindle version, and the photos are amazingly detailed. Wish there was more about the tsunami and an update for the 2011 tsunami, but a great read none the less.

Cool pictures/information of area. Unfortunately as soon as I'd opened the book, I LOST PAGES. Not happy.

I was glad to find this history book on the region - the only one if its kind. It has fascinating facts, and wonderful photos. Great resources.

This book of captioned photographs is an excellent complement to the Del Norte County Historical Society's museum in Crescent City, which is a surprisingly good museum for an area of such limited population and financial resources. The photos in this book gave me an even greater appreciation for the incredibly rich history of this area. I wish that there was more about Battery Point Lighthouse, and the years after the great tsunami of 1964 are essentially ignored (most likely because the area never really recovered from the devastation), but I thoroughly enjoyed this book as the excellently reproduced photos really brought the history of the county to life.

Very good book with pictures and informative narration done by David T. Gray for the Del Norte County California Historical Society. He is writing an other book of Del Norte County History from a series he wrote for the Local paper , The Daily Triplicate.
