NO MORE Dinghy bailing.
Walker Bay 8' dinghy. It was a pain in the butt always bailing the dinghy. I secured this pump behind the middle seat in the trough. Hooked it up to a motorcycle battery that's bungied under the seat. Drilled the exhaust hose out the starboard side near seat and hooked up a small solar panel. There is a very little bit of rain water in the trough to sponge up but that's it. This pump is powerful and has operated flawlessly for over a year. This setup is maintenance free.UPDATE: It died!!!...got over a year out of it. It did well and Im happy with it's performance. 5 Stars.

Auto-Brown and Manual-Brown-White interchanged
This is a great product at an affordable price. However, the industry standard for connecting these (for the auto mode) is to use the brown wire as +ve and black wire as -ve and if you aren't using manual mode, seal and tie off the brown-white wire. When I connected it for auto mode as documented in their manual and as described above, it ran continuously. For a moment, I thought the float switch wasn't working properly but I read someone else's review who indicated that the brown and brown-white wire functions were improperly reversed. After switching these two, my bilge worked correctly in auto mode.

Saved my boat.
Hurricane Helene floated my boat off my lift and deposited it in the lagoon behind my house. The plug was out and the bilge pump kept it afloat for around 12 hours until I finally got home and put the plug in. Thanks for the quality pump!

Good flow, bad float
Disclaimer: my use is not for a boat's bilge. I picked up a couple because I needed pumps with float switches to use as drain pumps for indoor garden runoff. If you're into boating then the design is probably familiar. If you are not then be sure that you understand what you are getting. This is a basic water pump with integrated float switch. This pump does not include a power supply. It does not have a barrel connector, just bare wires. It requires 12V 3A power. It is designed to use a three-pole switch, although just for switching automatic mode to manual so this can be bypassed if you're comfortable with making your own alternate wiring config.I used a barrel connector with terminals and a three-pole switch to complete the wiring and connected a 12V 5A power supply that I picked up here. I had tried a 12V 1A power supply that I had, but it just made the pump make noise, so be sure that your power supply is sufficiently rated. So far, I've only opened one pump as I was waiting to get the first working as expected to replicate config on the other. However, I'll probably be abandoning this config because the pump float switch is unreliable. When the water level drops down too far for the pump to continue pushing, it often continues to churn noisily until I reach down and tweak the "test" knob, which is just a knob connected to the float switch to force it to move. Once I turn it far enough for the pump to go off, it stays off.Not recommended due to insufficient reliability for unsupervised operations, with the above disclaimer in mind. Perhaps something about being mounted in a bilge would make it far more reliable, but I cannot trust it when mounted in a pan on a concrete floor. I'll keep them around as emergency supplements for my sump pump or something since they are pretty good at pumping.

Faulty and dangerous
After less than a year of use in a small boat, it stopped working properly. The power would come and go and often the motor would be running without any water being pumped out. I checked for blockages regularly, and after removing a blockage last night, I still heard it running without water being pumped. I picked it up to investigate and it blew a large and hard burst of forced air into my hands, bruising multiple fingers. Neighboring cottages could hear the bang that's how loud it was! Do not buy this product, faulty, and potentially dangerous.
