Timbuk2 Especial Cycling Messenger Bag

You have to appreciate the sheer utility of this bag. No frills, just space make this thing a great pack mule. My only gripe with this bag is the fixed shoulder pad is only good for carrying across your body. Feels a bit awkward to carry off one shoulder since you can move the padded portion. It also makes for an inability to really move the fixed strap that is supposed to further stabilize the bag while riding. Its sewn to the shoulder pad portion and needs to be wayyyyy lower making it pretty useless. The Overall build quality of the strap is much higher than the standard messenger from Timbuk2 but its inability to slide across the main strap really hurts in the end. All in all I would purchase again. Pretty plain looking but if you need to haul gear this thing is an absolute unit. Would have given 5 stars if the shoulder pad was movable like the old design.

This Timbuk2 Especial Messenger is the second Especial Bag I have purchased from Timbuk2, the first being the Rally. As a collector, Ive got quite a few Messengers from various brands for comparison, the Timbuk2 brand is top notch in its form, substance and usability. The Especial Messengers may be considered as the premium line of the brand as it is functionality and versatility as well as its design is a cut above the rest. Some may find the lack of pockets and compartments an issue while other might feel uncomfortable with how the strap is positioned in addition to having trouble with the adjustment mechanism but that would depend on how this messenger is used. An organizer and the ability to swing it to the side solves all that. More so, remembering what the bag was meant for and its ability to be used in a multitude of ways earns it four stars. Ultimately, the item was as described, arrived on time intact and was new - thats deserves the fifth star

This thing is a beast and I get asked about it all the time. I've owned various Chrome bags over the years but I got to the point where I just couldn't shake that heavy chest buckle anymore (and my god, the noise! Putting it down sounds like you dropped a bag full of spoons).The strap padding may leave something to be desired but the rest of it is superior in every way. The shoulder strap length adjustment is lightweight yet robust. It feels very solid and locks into place securely. The buckle design is absolutely genius, though I will admit the actual buckles feel like cheap plastic (no idea what it is, haven't had any issues yet). Pockets are great, laptop sleeve is also great. Attachment point for a bike light is cake. There's even a little inspiring message from the bag, to you, inside.Visually the different textures and material look and feel very high quality. It's also great and large enough for overnights or short weekend trips. I can't imagine what else I would want.

The Timbuk2 Especial Messenger bag is definitely superior to mostly all other messenger bags when it comes to the material it's made out of. The bag has few pockets and has many zippers leading to it's main compartment which I felt is unnecessary. I think this bag should sale for $100 and not $175. I do like how the bag sits comfortably on my back while traveling but it doesn't meet it's price point. This bag is very spacious and I'm ready to see how it holds up during inclement weather.

Timbuk2 used to make the best bags... now they are skimping out... the front and side pockets are actually the same pocket... all in all its a good bag and the magnetic buckles are great however they are trying to hard when it comes to how the strap attaches... they should have just left it the same way as the original messenger bags.

Very well made bag, and comfortable to carry. Only issue is it doesn’t have any outer pockets for carrying water bottle, and pocket for laptop doesn’t have a lot of padding.

I bought this bag and its design is Ok, is really beautiful. The cons: it is so heavy. By other side, I ordered the medium size and arrived the large size and this is so big for me.

Personally, I like some of the older models better but they aren’t available anymore and you can’t beat the magnetic buckles on Timbuktu’s bags.

Es la segunda Mochila de mensajero Timbuk2 qué compro en Amazon. Llegó rápido y en cuanto a la calidad, es realmente excelente!!! Aún tengo la mochila vieja para alguna emergencia pero ya no creo que resista otra lluvia (5 años con ella). Son las mochilas qué más me han durado. Altamente recomendables!!!

Quality construction. Cool magnetic buckles(?). I haven't used it yet but was relieved to see that my 15" Razer laptop fits in the laptop sleeve. The bag was delivered on time in excellent condition.

2016年に購入。見た目も使い勝手も満足なんですがさすがにヘタれてきたので再度同じものを購入しようと思ったら価格が当時の2.5倍になってるのは何故なんでしょうか？

残念な点として、内容量が正直思ったより小さいことが挙げられます。この手のバッグはいわゆるバックパックに収納力で劣るのは仕方がないことなのかもしれません。ただ、ファイルやノートパソコンなど結構詰めることができるので必要にして十分といえます。もう一つ残念な点として、クロスストラップを使わないときに固定するバックルがないことです。バッグの底部にストレッチ素材のループがあってそこにクロスストラップを固定できるようになっていますがいまいち手探りでは入れにくく、固定もいまいち確実とはいえません。以上のような、マイナスポイントがありますが作りがよく素材もタフなので使い勝手がよく非常に満足しています。実際に使ってみるとプロのメッセンジャー使うことを考慮したというだけあって実用性は高いと感じました。ストラップを固定するフックやマグネットのおかげで走行中のバタつきが抑えられるのでバイクに乗っても快適に使用できます。メインのストラップを付け替えれるので右かけにも左かけにもできるのも結構珍しい点で機能的だといえます。自分は右利きでも右かけにしたいのでこの機能はすごく助かりました。あと、当然ですがクロスストラップがついているのがいいですね。ショルダーバッグは自転車やバイクに乗ると腹側にずり落ちるのでクロスストラップが無いと煩わしく感じます。二輪車に乗ることを前提とするメッセンジャーバッグにクロスストラップは必須のディテールだと思います。最近、「メッセンジャーバッグ」といいながらクロスストラップのついていない製品をよく目にしますがあれは単なるショルダーバッグなので「メッセンジャーバック」に分類しないでもらいたいですね。

思ったより肩が疲れます。なじんでくればそのへんは改善するかもしれませんが、新品は肩にあたる部分が固いような気がします。また、ポケットの数が少ないので、小物の整理には苦戦するかもしれません。全てのポケットにファスナーを使ってアクセスできますが、あまり使わないから、そこを別のポケットとしてくれればよかったかと思います。　ベルトは付け替えれば、右肩、左肩に対応できます。左右に対応する必要がないなら、クラシックのほうが機能的なのではないかと思います。
