Color Your Own Victorian Fairy Paintings (Dover Art Masterpieces To Color)

The media could not be loaded.  This is a lovely coloring book of Victorian fairies. The designs are based on famous artwork and have been adapted into line drawings by Marty Noble. The designs are all quite elegant and have full backgrounds. They are detailed and some have intricate and small areas to color.While I wish that the book was printed on only one side of each page, I really like that the original artwork is attributed (though it might have been nice if that was done on a single page rather than at the bottom of each page.) I also like that there are full color thumbnails of each of the original artworks. Those are situated at the inside of the front and back cover.This is what I experienced while coloring in this book and testing it with my coloring medium.30 Victorian Fairy designs derived by Marty Noble from famous artwork designsPrinted on both sides of the pagePaper is medium weight, slightly rough, white and non-perforatedStaple bound with three heavy duty staplesDesigns stop well before the binding area and can be removed in whole from the book by removing the three staples at the binding. Each of the designs has a framing line at the outer edges.Alcohol-based markers bleed through this paperWater-based markers spot through and/or leave colorful shadows on the back of the pageGel pens and India ink pens leave colorful shadows on the back of the page. India ink pens can bleed through in spots if you apply heavily or use multiple coats.Colored pencils worked well with this paper. Both oil and wax-based pencils provided good pigment, layered well with the same or multiple colors and blended well using a blending stick. Hard lead pencils did not dent through the page.If you choose to use any medium other than colored pencils on the pages of this book, you will probably find bleed through or colorful shadows on the design at the back of your working page.

Wonderful collection of fairies to color.

Nice to practice watercolor art with. You can even practice drawing these difficult paintings by using the coloring book as a guide to creating you own works of art.

This was very pretty. I sent it to a friend as a Christmas gift, but not before thumbing through it a bit first. Very beautiful drawings, and I may need to order one to color myself since it was so adorable.

Its a nice collection - must have been some work getting these delightful delicate images into coloring book form... but its tough to work with the images printing on both sides of the page. Can't really recommend it as a coloring book unless you work only in colored pencil or light crayon.

Loved the different artwork to color and the fact that small versions of the original art is included inside the front and back covers.

One of my favorites! Each page has a picture of the original inside the covers. This gives you good ideas of which colors to use plus the original artists name and title.

What can I say? I'm an adult that likes to color!

Son unas bonitas ilustraciones de treinta pinturas de la época victoriana recreadas por Marty Noble. Debajo de cada una vienen un par de datos sobre la pintura original. La impresión es a doble cara y el papel no es muy grueso, pero para mí carece de importancia porque no los coloreo, me gustan estos cuadernos para inspirarme en sus dibujos.

Ich bin begeistert von der Möglichkeit Malbücher für bestimmte Themen zu erwerben. Die Motive sind sehr gut ausgewählt und lassen sich gut colorieren. Auch dass die Originalvorlagen mit abgebildet sind, hat mir gut gefallen. Noch schöner hätte ich es gefunden, wenn das Papier etwas dicker und nur einseitig bedruckt gewesen wäre. Trotzdem fünf Sterne.

Not suitable. Pictures to copy from are only at the inside of back cover and tiny. Not for children who want to copy.Good for painting whatever though. Not quite the purpose these books are for.
