Cirque du Soleil - Quidam [DVD]

I was sitting on the couch and watchingthe dvd. I never heard of cirque du soleil until then. After all Zoe started her journey and took us all with her into that fantasy with beauitul dreams and horendous nightmares. The acrobatic themes began with the German wheel followed by the diabolo. I have to admit that these two along with the hand balancing and banquine. I have seen lots of amazing diabolo performances when I was in Taiwan, but still found the whole sequence from those four girls astonishing. The German wheel is unbelievable, because it's just hard to imagine how can a human body can direct and redirect the movement of the wheel.......I may have to write a paper to discribe everything though. But I think the only act I like less is the Clowns, they were funny for a while, then they got a little annoying. John Gilkey is great great actor, he made me laugh with every act he put on.I think the best part of Quidam is it's music and theme. The theme, unlike any others cirque du soleil show I have seen, showed the vision of a girl's mind, not just a story from our view anymore. Zoe brought the audience into the fantsy, and led us through her experience of bore, amaze, terror..... I must also say that the it was so unique that Cirque du Soleil used a self-created language in every show. Quidam was no exception. Even some lyrics can never be understood, but the audience coud still feel it, the emotion and the power from the music, the story and all the act. I am getting tired of typing, so I won't write no more. One last thing I have to say is: get the dvd, even if you never like circus.

I have never seen or heard of Cirque Du Soleil before a friend at work handed me a video and said I need to watch it. 2 days later I returned the video and said I had to watch it three times because I liked it so much. I was hooked on Cirque Du Soleil: Quidam and wanted to get a copy of my own. Researched on computer and discovered there were more. Within 2 weeks I have purchased and received eight of their videos and watched them all repeatedly. Absolutely amazing to think what kind of shape a person has to be in to perform like that on cue, to music, and repeat it each performance scheduled. Each video has left me with a good feeling afterwards. I am told that seeing them live is something you won't forget, and well worth the money. Reminds me of my childhood-Rough and Tumble, Inventive, and Daring. The girl's voice in Quidam is amazing, as well as the stunts and every other bit of the performance. Amazing, Wonderful, and Poignant are the only way to express my feelings. Very well done! And surprising to find out how long ago this video was released and that it was still available. I will always treasure these videos. If you've seen them, you know what I mean, if you haven't, you need to!

This Cirque Du Soleil show, in which is about a journey seen through the eyes young girl, is amazing. It is one of my favorite cirque shows. The acts included in this dvd are, jump rope, ariel contortion in silk, diabolos, banquine, vice versa (statue), *****hand balencing, ariel hoops, german wheel, ariel ropes, and many more. My absolute favorite act is hand balencing on canes. It is performed by Olga Pikhienko, the same acrobat who does hand balencing in cirques latest production Varekai. This act is truly breath taking. The flexibility, stength and balence this acrobat performs seems virtually impossible. Cirque Du Soleil has yet to amaze us again! Other of my favorite acts include ariel contortion in silk. This is done by Issabel Chasse, the same girl who was in the group contortion in Nouvelle Expirience (an earlier cirque show.) Diabolos is a good act, it is performed by cute little asain girls who catapult chinese yoyos in the air. Jump roping is also good, it is full of many energetic performers. This cirque show is just amazing, I highly recomend it.

This is my first Cirque du Soleil - DVD that I have purchased.The sound is great, whic is very important since the music is very good and there are none spoken dialogs (my only complain is that subtitles only work for the fist scene)The show itself is very dinamic and intersting, it seems a little short for me (which is usually and indication of something good, since good times go fast)There are some angles and positions of the camera that allow you to see the detail of certain perfomances.If you have not purchased a DVD of Cirque du Soleil this is a very good start.

I liked it since 1999 when I saw by tv. Later I purchased the DVD movie, and every time I watch it I enjoyed it as the first time. What wonderful must be to see it by Blu-ray with better resolution. My first dvd was damaged owing to continued use so I had to buy a new one. The show is very beautiful. It shows us the adult people many times we forget about our children. We leave alone and scared our children. It is an emotional way to see the mistakes of adult people with their sons. Jhon Gilkey's playing is really spectacular. Music is very very nice. You cannot lost the opportunity to watch this spectacular circus show.

As I have heard so much about the Cirque Du Soleil shows from my sister who has seen them in Vegas three times, I decided to purchase a DVD. After reading several good reviews about Quidam, I sent for it. I received the DVD very quickly but was majorly disappointed in the show. It was very slow and repetitive and I didn't even bother watching the whole thing. Maybe it was because it was an older show, but I really wasted my money--I plan to send it to my sister and get her opinion on how it compares to the ones that she has seen.

As entertainment value this cirque circus is an absolutely delight to watch . All the performing artists are mind bogglingly brilliant. It's amazing what abilities these people possess 10 out of 10 . One to watch again and again . I will have to get a few more of these hopefully. It's brilliant altogether.
