the beautiful and bold
This novel potentially had a very good start, but morphed into what I'd classify as a daytime serial: shallow, melodramatic, over-the-top, and focused on 'the beautiful and bold.' In the latter part of the novel, the characters solved all of their problems & pent up feelings by having sex.Granted all fiction is make believe and personally I don't hold a novel to the test 'how realistic is it.' However, as an academician, I could not reconcile the actions and 'professorship' of 1 MC. When the story is about 2 people falling in love, I would expect that the story to delve into the emotions of the MCs and the progression of their relationship rather than focus on what's in the MCs pants and how they use what's in their pants.I found it difficult to remain focused throughout this novel because of the the recurring sexual acrobatics in the latter part of this novel. I would be reluctant to buy a novel by this author again.

Great addition to an amazing series
In book one we were introduced to both Jordan and Derek. It was obvious there was something there and instantly I wanted to know their story. We learn in Devil’s Kiss what a difficult life Derek has endured. It brought tears to my eyes on several occasions. Derek’s determination to be better than the other men in his family was what made Derek who he is. Strong, confident, and loving. An added bonus is that he is also gorgeous, muscled and tattooed. When I first met Jordan I wasn’t sure what to think of him. When we get to know the man he truly is you can’t help but love him as well. Not only is he kinda spunky, he has a huge heart. There is so much more to him that just his good looks and brains. As their story unfolds you see not only a friendship develop but deeper feelings for each other. It was frustrating that it took so long for them to actually come together in a sexual aspect. But when they did wow, Ella Frank knows how to write sex scenes that make you sweat. The chemistry they have is stifling. However, it is the friendship, and the deep connection that makes them perfect for the other. As for the secondary characters, I loved seeing Finn and Brantley again. I adore those too. We also get to briefly meet Jordan’s mother and she is a hoot. I can definitely see where Jordan gets his wittiness from. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about Derek’s family. They are horrific and made me sick. I was hoping my feelings would change over time but that wasn’t the case. I was glad that Derek was able to overcome the nastiness they display. Out of all these secondary characters it was Dylan who intrigues me the most. He has a story and I hope we get to read it soon. For those who you have read Ella Frank’s work you already know she is a phenomenal writer and her books are an automatic one click. However, for those who haven’t read her books, what are you waiting for each and everyone are fantastic. If you decided to start with this series, Devil’s Kiss could be read as a standalone but I recommend starting with Finley, book one to fully understand that characters and background.I can’t wait to read more from Ella Frank in the future as I know it will be just as amazing as her others.

MUST READ!! Derek and Jordan are perfect!
From the very beginning the sexy prologue grabs you and has you begging for more, and I've grown to expect that from Ella, talk about making you want to turn the page! She has brought us two super dynamic characters which we've met before from Finley, book one. I absolutely loved meeting these characters in the first book, so I was so excited to learn they were getting their own story.Derek Pearson, whoa is he HOT and full of attitude, he's everything you want in a tattooed, cigarette smoking bad boy and once you get to know him the layers peel back and you get to know him on a much more vulnerable level. Derek has a pretty bad past and definitely sat at the wrong end of the poker table when it came to parents, and living with an abusive, homophobic father for years is enough to make anyone turn stone cold and put those walls way up high. This made me love him even more, I love my flawed characters who don’t let their past define who they are.Jordan (Posh) Devaney, he's privileged, smart--not smart, more like genius and he was raised with a great set of parents and is Derek's opposite in every way. Except the hot way, they pretty much match up on the "holy crap I'm hot" scale. I LOVE Jordan's no nonsense attitude and tight pants and brightly colored personality. Jordan also happens to have a nice past as Derek's professor, and I just loved reading those early beginnings of how it all started. I didn’t realize when I started reading this what a righteous love story it would be. And that might sound strange because the description of the book doesn’t necessarily allude to that, but oh boy, trust me in saying that it truly is.These two have a silent challenge going on between them in the very beginning, and watching that grow and fester was pretty rad. Talk about your sexual chemistry! Holy crap, I swear you'd think these two would rather fight than anything thing else, they have this kindergarten game of "I hate you" going on and to be honest some of the banter back and forth was freaking hilarious. Beyond that, was a beautiful friendship that was being formed. The slow build up was great, because you know the whole time they just want to rip each other's clothes off, so bravo you strong willed beasts, because I would have failed that challenge way before you did. But holy cannoli, when the clothes DO come off, watch out! I mean it’s Ella Frank, do I need to say much more? Her sex scenes are some of the best out there, if not THE best, no joke this woman can write some sexy times.Derek and Jordan’s journey was so much fun to read, and of course I read it slow, like I do with all of my Ella books, but with this one specifically I’m so glad for my slow-poking ways because what was waiting for me throughout was just wonderful to read. The emotion behind these characters is so real and unhurried, it’s sweet (yes, sweet) and funny and raw and emotional and I just love how Derek and Jordan came full circle and complemented each other. These two men have secured a very special place in my heart, and I encourage all of my book loving friends to go read it!

Three and a Half stars. So frustrating!
I'm torn over this book, I certainly preferred it to the first in the series and I like that it wasn't stereotypical with regards to the MCs. However, I found the story so frustrating to read.I certainly didn't like Jordan, the love interest of Derek. I think that he treated Derek as if he was a second thought on most occasions. Not only was he high maintenance, he was also, unapologetically, a brat. I liked Derek, he became so much more than his background dictated, he was also much too good for Jordan. The worse thing was the toing and froing between the two of them, this was what was so frustrating. They also spent most of the book arguing, not really what I signed up for. I just wanted to bang their heads together most of the time. I loved the 'Temptation' series, and keep expecting more of the same from Ms Frank. I don't feel that her last two MM books have lived up to that series. I liked Derek and I enjoyed the epilogue, it was just a shame it took them so long to get there.

while i loved both Derek and Jordan
Mixed review from me on this one, while i loved both Derek and Jordan. And though even though they were an unlikely couple they were actually quite perfect for each other. The only thing that got one nerves was the time frame, they jumping from 3 months later to then six months later. It seem to drag on for years. Does that take away from the writing NO because Ella Frank knows how to write a great book. And while i wanted them to get together soon, it was just my opinion on them. Some will really like how it played out, I just wanted to slap them upside there heads and shout you were at this point three chapters ago!!

Book 2' Even better
This book covers the story between Derek, Fin's childhood friend and Jordan, who's Bradley's best friend. Jordan, like Bradley is a professor at the college Derek and Fin were at, and Derek has wanted Jordan from the very first day he met him, but Jordan has made it clear that he will only ever see Derek as a pupil. One day Derek phones Jordan asking for help after his abusive father beat him to pulp and Jordan is determined to help Derek in any way he can, even offering him the spare room at his apartment. Painstakingly their friendship develops and it's such a beautiful thins to see

Pfft!
Well there were times I just wanted to shout 'get on with it',then there were times I thought bloody long winded, then I went all warm and mushy to "I'll always answer".its a good story.the characters are strong with a heart,it's just the two and throwing of the relationship that did my head in.I like that Derek and Jordan are complete opposites in character, but are still hot for each other.

Loved it!
I thought Finn and Brantley from the first book in this series would always be my favourites. I was wrong. Derek and Jordan are. I loved their story from start to finish. I loved how Ella told their story from the first time they met, right up to present day and beyond. Amazing. Yep, loved it.

Brilliant
The rating a for a brilliant book, which I enjoyed so much and read in one sitting. I don't know why some people wrote that it isn't as strong as her other works because it is!!! It has love, angst and a brilliant depth as a love story.

My heart is so full of love for Derek and Jordan!
It was once again awesome! The laughing, giggling, snorting, squirming, heartbreaking, crying....I loved how the story was going. Also how the serious issues were part of the story and not taking over everything (not sure that makes sense, call it lack of sleep as I finished at 4am lol).Derek and Jordan couldn't be more opposite. They meet at a time where Derek is nearly at his worst. Yet they both can't defy their attraction. Their banter and teasing is hilarious and makes you love them right from the start. When Derek hits his lowest low, he doesn't reach out to his best friend Finn. No, he finds himself trusting the young man he tries to fight off. For Derek, something that doesn't come easily. Although Jordan is determined to keep it on a friendship level, even he can't fight Derek for Logan.Devil's Kiss takes us over a couple years where these two form a strong bond, yet it's one very precious and can break easily. Through all those years, Derek can be certain of one think...that Jordan always answers his phone. Like a lifeline. But some topics are avoided like the elephant in the glass house.Ella Frank's writing and characters and stories amaze me time and time again! I loved it!!!!!! <3

5 'Always' Stars!
Hello, angst. Did I miss you or what? This book is full of it.And it was so addicting.I loved everything this book had to offer. Ever since I read Finley, I knew I had to get my hands on this story. Derek and Posh stole my heart in the best way and I fell in love with them. Their story was one hell of a journey and I'm so happy that they got their HEA. Honestly after everything we went through in this book, they deserved it.

The 'Devil' you know!!!
Every single one of Ella Frank's novels I've loved and have re-read more times than I can recall. 'The Devils Kiss' is an intense hot sexy emotional journey that depicted how enduring love is regardless of how many roadblocks Derek and Jordan encountered in their friendship/relationship!! Every single one of Ella Frank's M/M novels are well worth the read!!!
