Was on the verge of returning when..
If you push the light fitting really hard into the battery compartment, then it works. Much further than it looks like it should.This is quite a bright light and too bright to use as a night light.Has options to use with batteties or a usb cable, so can plug into a laptop or buy a plug to fit into a socket in the wall(not included). Takes 3 AA batteries.Not great present quality, the box was squashed and the stand is tinged yellow with dirt round the edges and the 'planet' is covered in scratches.The colour is much richer in real life than in the photo.

Not working
I’ve tried to turn it on after connecting the lamp and base and putting in batteries and usb cable but it’s not turning on. I think I received a faulty item

Don’t waste your money
You need to stick the main piece into the base as far as it can go in order to make it work. Looks great ,
