Quite the character evolution and a bit of whiplash but a fun read
Whew,,,I just marathon read these books..well I did have to sleep and get my butt to work this morning before I could finish those last few chapters, but still I started these book at 8pm last night. So, synopsis here we go:I will assume anyone reading this review has read the first book so I will just sum them up together. Mia (20 something who works in an ad agency) finds out in the first few pages of the series that her little brother (one year younger) went missing at a dig site in Mexico. She doesn't tell her parents a thing. She just heads to Mexico. Once there she is attacked and told to leave. So she does. She searches and searches and someone takes pity on her and gives her the name King (and his address) She goes to his office to ask for his help. He agrees on one condition. That she will belong to him forever. Pretty intriguing right... I was surprised she did not ask more questions about what that entailed. But that's just me I guess.I devoured the first book. But as I was reading I felt these books lacked something. I was really tired of hearing how amazingly good looking King was. I know it was important for the story to explain why she was attracted to King even though he was a jerk..but still. I found that a bit annoying and it took time from the story. The first book is really just her trying to get info from King who pretty much keeps her in the dark as much as possible. Then he marks her with the letter K like a tattoo. She is pretty pissed about that but he tells her its for her own protection. So we believe him. He can appear and re-appear at any time, anywhere. Although we do not know why or how. And Mia is completely clueless but to be honest she is that way most of the time. We know King has some kind of powers or abilities. He is a member of this club '10-Club' full or super rich and disgusting people. He is obsessed with finding THE artifact. But he agrees to help with the brother thing too. Oh and Mia has some special abilities of her own. But this was hardly discussed in the books. I almost forgot to mention it.Mia is (was) a fun character. She has some good one liners and she tries to make light of bad situations. I really enjoyed Mack (very good looking male pilot/bodyguard for Mia who is also indebted to King) King was mysterious and sexy and a badass! I loved the alpha part of him. He reminded me of Barrons a lot.The second book took a turn for me. The first half was exciting and nail-biting! I loved it. I loved the back story on King too. But towards the end Mia became so effing difficult and emotional and just bat sh** crazy. I mean to a point I understand, but come on. She had two options given to her and anyone with a brain would have jumped and pleaded for the option King was offering. But no..she had to think on it... Ugh! And the end when she became a super bitch and supposedly "changed". Yes, she even refers to it as her change. She is a different person. That was weird and out of character. That happened way to fast and as a reader I just didn't believe it and It took me out of the story. I get that she is angry but it could have been handled so much better. I mean come on..when you get that mad..you sleep on it..right. She was just crazy!! And her idiot brother chose his own path. I am not saying abandon family but if they are jumping off a cliff I will not follow...yell and scream a bit yes, but jump in after...not so much.I thought that I would be dying for the next book but I am not. Where does this story go? I mean, will it just be King wooing Mia. I am not really interested in reading that personally. I like that King was a badass and had all of the power. But he just sort of gave up. We know she will go back to him (he probably knew as well which is why he let her leave) So its not really a cliffhanger. i guess I see a lot of long walks on the beach in the future. I don't know. I will read it but its not like other books where I mark the release date down in my calendars. I wish I could re-write the ending. I want King to have forced Mia to stay and take her place among his people. I wanted that. So I am disappointed but at the same time..these books are fun. If a book can keep me up all night then I have to recommend it.

3.5-4 KING Stars
YES YES YES!! Finally I know what's going on....ok, lemme say I know to 90% what's going on lol. I do know who and what KING is and I love the idea of it -nicely and unique plotted!Book 2 is much more interesting than the first and it had some serious WTH moments. The author surprised me with certain twists and I've to say I liked them all.Sure thing, some things King kept hidden, especially towards the end made me wanna choke him and I understood why Mia was so freaking pissed. He sure has his own agenda and is pretty determined to get his way. He has a way with words and his charm that makes you drool...no surprise he gets what he wants. As mentioned in my review for book 1, Mia still annoyed me LOTS; but I was hooked on the story that I overlooked her attitude.About the question if it's a romance now, I can't really answer that. It had some indications to it but I don't fully trust King. Are his feelings real? Could Mia love him after everything he did and put her through...or better, what he hid from her?A lot of lies, secrets and plenty of truth you'll find in this book. I was still somewhat confused but only because King is a mystery. Not a bad one but it's hard for a reader to follow through - his mind works in a very special way.Did I like the 2nd book? Yes, much more than the first. I still think certain plot scenes could have needed more envelopment but it was overall much better. As written in my other review I finished book 1 and had a "What the heck was that?" moment, which made me buy right away book 2. Same happened last night - I finished, thought for 2 minutes and could only say "I can't believe she freaking did that!" Damn Mia, what did you do?!?!I made my choice who i'd take and I sure hope King has something up his sleeve because I don't want him to disappear fully!!I'm super excited for book 3 !!!!

Another winner in this series...
So, we move on to book two with a whole lot of questions and only a few answers. We know for the most part that King might not be the big bad that we thought he was. Or, he is, and he is just really good and hiding it. For the most part this story took us on a roller coaster ride that didn't stop until the end and then left us hanging from a cliff. I happen to like cliffhangers it makes the reader give a crap in my humble opinion. We find Mia on her own and without the aide of King. She got her brother back, but his story isn't washing and a new twist has entered the game. If King doesn't show up in 24 hours. ALL of King's possessions belong to a sociopathic nutjob that wants to hump Mia AFTER removing all her flesh. So, enter Mia attempting to be King and play his game, his way. I have to say Mia has HUGE character development in this installment. She sheds the parts that make you want to repel Mia out of a building and she grows as a character to realize that she might only have herself -- and Mack to depend on. Even Mack proves to be breakable even in all his awesomeness.About half way through the book (I power read these books without sleeping so forgive me if my percents are off here) we find out that this whole situation was a set up by King. Again, Mia is finding her world crumbling around her, trusting no one but her family, yet her family is in danger. With King still unwilling to let her go, she is put back into his demented world with few choices and no other option other then to play his game. But let's all remember, she played King for a day and did a pretty damned good job. If the person requesting the possessions hadn't been the one to have kind in the first place, I think she would've pulled it off.The story is once again rich, well developed, and intense. It isn't easy and you have to think while you read. So if you don't want something just handed to you on a silver platter like most books these days, I recommend staying way. Mimi gives you a deep, complicated universe that only the true readers of UF can handle.

This really had so many twists.
“Because if I could dream of one thing for the rest of my days, it would be of you, the way you study me and wonder who or what I really am.” Why? “Because you never stop hoping. I can see it in your eyes, Mia. You never cease praying that I will turn out to be something other than I am. A monster.”So this one starts two weeks after Mia last saw King and right at the end of the first book.King has disappeared without a trace and Mia is seriously worried.Following a trail that on the surface seems to have been engineered by King himself, Mia finds herself at King's residence and along with the help of King's right-hand men, Mack and Amo Mia set's out on a mission with there assistance to discover his ultimate fate or current whereabouts. So this had a totally different vibe than its predecessor it was still just as addictive reading it just felt totally different. We finally get to discover what seems to be at the heart of King with some serious answers to what he is and what is in his past.It also feels like events here are being puppet-mastered by his hand and everything that occurs is for a reason that only he seems to have the answers to.After King's help with her Mum and brother Mia also feels closer to her mysterious saviour and has a sense that she owes him for his past assistance combine this with also being attracted despite her fear to his darkness well Mia is now determined to help King in whatever way she can. This really had so many twists and just when I thought I knew where this was actually heading this managed to flaw me with the final reveal, gobsmacked is the word.I guess I should have expected it this is after all King we are dealing with.My only slight criticism here is sometimes I do find that Mia herself can be a tad judgmental and I would have liked her to give King a break.Out of the two King here is hands down my favourite character and I feel that sometimes Mia can be a tad harsh in her behaviour towards him. Then she will turn around and give her brother a free pass just because he is family.I am looking forward now to book three this series is fantastic and one I recommend highly.

King for a day
I really love the plot and twist in this second book of King. With all the artefacts, wish there has been more what king has used. There is something I don't like, those jumps that Mia takes, she has no money, how can she travel back to her parents? No explanation how she acquired her passport, all the small bits, like she never sleeps never eats, well sometimes it's mentioned, but not really often. The story is thrilling and has cruel twist, the characters are well-established. Good descriptions to details, some parts quite scary. But Mia's behaviour is a bit extreme for my taste when she is at kings house. It also seems to me that she is actually not a really friendly person at all, that I start a bit to dislike her behaviour in this part of the book.Looking forward for the next one. Overall I really like the idea of this storyline.

2nd instalment
I did find it cheeky that this book was so small, it could have been part of of first one easily. But it was still awesome. It was fast paced, Dark, and you just didn't know where the plot would go next.I didn't like the cliffhanger, I was more a fan of her original choice, but now I need to read book 3 to see if she follows through.

Who doesnt want a King for a day?
4.5 stars. Not good news. At all. I’m not talking about this book. No. I’m referring to the fact that their isn’t even a ‘book 3’ listed so I can at least mark as ‘to read’. Which only means one thing. A huge long wait until I finally get some resolution between the H/h in this trilogy.Another great story that had so many twists and turns, my head’s a mess! But in a good way. I started this straight after book 1, which ended on a semi-cliff-hanger. In this instalment, the storyline deviated from what some people, me included, might consider similar to that of the Fever series. That didn’t bother really, but I was glad this story started to shift into one of its own in this book.So what to expect? Well we get actual answers for exactly who and what King is. More background on him and what made him such an evil, arrogant prick (but a hot sexy one) and a little of what he wants from Mia. What I loved (and yet what frustrated me the most) was just how close the H/h kept coming to resolving their differences and almost liking each other, and maybe more. Sure, the two are stubborn as all hell and just wouldn’t admit their feelings for each. Admittedly, Mia has some valid reasons. Through this book (and the last) she wants answers and doesn’t get them until the very end, when she realises just how much she has been manipulated by many people in her life. King (of course), Mack and sadly her brother. I won’t say any more.Great book, exciting yet convoluted storyline. Hot alpha-possessive but confusing hero. Feisty heroine. 4.5 stars!

Must have reading
The last book ended on a cliff hangar and so does this one.As in the previous book we do get more questions about King, but a lot of the previous questions are answered. It's another page turner of a book and is much darker, purely because Mia herself goes through a transformation and finds herself doing this that only a month or two ago she would have balked at.Mack is in this one a little more and at times we get to see a softer side, we also get know a little more about what happened to him.As always when King is involved we never get the full picture, we only get what is spoon fed to us, thereby never really leaving us able to guess what is going to happen next. The story certainly leaves us with more of a tease, so i'm now off to buy the next one :)
