This movie is done in 3 sections - French perspective (so a lot more enlightened than the USA to begin with) on the changing attitude and culture surrounding LGBTQ. This film shows 3 generations of a family and the struggle for a child to become a man and a father from the time before AIDS until his middle aged life. It is a fascinating view on the rapid progress that has been made in the struggle for LGBTQ civil and human rights.

Wonderful film that spans three decades of the evolution of gay rights in France seen through the lives of two men, their families and friends. All the elements are there: coming out to parents, the law for equal rights for gays, hate crimes against gays, the law for gay marriage and the progress for adopting children by gay couples,as well as the AIDS crisis.I love French films because everything is low key and the acting gives the characters a sense of real life characters that one might know. All the acting is superb but the the gay couple Charles and Victor and their son Diego are beyond superbe. Very convincing in their roles.The soundtrack is perfect and underscores the drama. The subtitles in English for those who do not understand French are clear and easy to read.The three parts of the series fly by. I will be watching the film again. That’s for sure!Don’t miss this beautiful and stirring three part series.

I was very surprised by this movie. Excellent sound and picture quality. Easy to read subtitles. Appropriate soundtrack that was never overbearing. Not as emotional as something like "Man in an orange shirt" or other heartstring tuggers, but totally realistic with many of the positive and negative aspects of gay life presented in such a way to avoid appearing like a cliche or stereotype. I especially liked the way the film makers included enough nudity and tasteful softcore to reinforce the realism of the characters. I've never understood how anyone could make a gay movie without it, because it's such a major part of our lives. These characters will be your friends by the end.

One important issue about this DVD Film is LGBTQ is not confined to one Nation, but also international. Here areCharles, Victor and Diego from the same family living through 3 Generations. A misguided notion is the longevityof puberty which last from 13 years old - until young adulthood around the age of 25 years. Granted the social changes are increasingly seismic. The production is well done except, it leaves out illnesses that are peculiar to thoseLGBTQ participants. For example, HIV - Aides that is terminal or strains of Hepatitus that are lethal. A episodic chronology of tolerance should not by-pass the liabilities in any relationship.

A story about a gay youth and how his fathers strong will and prejudice changed the trajectory of his life.It is even handed, telling the story without vilifying anyone. It gives history lessons on French law, politics during the late 70's to the 90's as seen by Victor and his family. Three one hour segments are included to cover the changes in the live that take place for the lovers, their friends and family. It is sweet, sexy, heart breaking and thought provoking. I lived through these times, the American version. It rang true to me.

This movie moves through years and struggles of a gay man wanting to adopt a child or have one.All the way through the AIDS crisis to modern day and gay marriage.Well acted and a great story.

Great Movie

Didn’t get to watch it. In the “proud” case was the Waltons Christmas. A really good Christmas story.

Excellent realistic portrayal--the joys and heartaches--of three generations. Excellent acting and production.
