Does not work
Could be a simple product for dB logging, but it really does not.work at all. Tried with couple of computers. Fails to stay in log mode for more than minute.

Bad experience - no response when plugged in to USB on any machine - Bad software - DOA
The mini-CD was that came with the DSM20. The General Instruments website does not have a link for the software. Tech support e-mailed the link. Once the software was installed, I plugged the device into a USB port - no device was recognized. Other USB devices work on this port. Tried different computers - nothing recognized that anything was plugged in at all.A blank icon appears with a Chinese caption appears on the Windows 7 desktop during install - not sure what that is.The manual is too sparse and does not address basic questions such as:How do you turn it off once started?Does the battery charge when plugged into a USB port?Installation expects drivers to automatically install when the device is initially plugged into USB port. It is not recognized as a device on any machine I tried.Overall impression is that device and software were pushed out too early. Insufficient QC and basically no documentation.

If you want to be totally disappointed with a strong feeling of having been victimized by ...
The instructions state:To begin logging go to "LOG." This unit has one button. You can press it quick, hold it, double click it, no matter what you do to that button, this unit will never go to LOG. Instructions are brief but state more than the unit could ever do! Software seems to be just as weak. However, I will never know for sure since I could never confirm that the logging of sound data had ever occurred. If you want to be totally disappointed with a strong feeling of having been victimized by a scam, then this item was designed with you in mind.
