Pleasures Evermore: The Life-Changing Power of Enjoying God

Pleasure is no longer a "carnal" word - Psa:16:11 theme passage
I believe this book could set you free in so many ways AND fixed a warped view of God so prevalent today. I believe it will help you see God is NOT trying to take away your pleasures in life as you yield to Him, but give you "pleasures forevermore". That will dwarf all other pleasures. This book will get you out of a works mentality. You will discover that the way to a holy and joyful walk before the Lord is NOT by a bunch of "do's" and "don't" but by falling in love with Jesus. This book will help you fall in love with Jesus. While this book is very similar in many ways to John Piper's "Desiring God" it is in my opinion MUCH better! That is my personal opinion, but every time I pick up Piper's "Desiring God" though rich in many truths I find myself having to push myself through it. While this book has some (many) of the same themes. I think it is much more readable and in my opinion much clearer. If you struggled like me through "Desiring God". This is the book for you. If you loved "Desiring God" then you will still love this book. It's a keeper in my library.Enjoy, and may God transform your life as you read this book.

Life-changing!!
I have read this book several times as I've led others through it. I've seen lives deeply impacted by the radical approach to pleasing God that Sam Storms presents in Pleasures Evermore.Just a glimpse... The key to your holiness is pursuing pleasure in God. When your heart is satisfied in God's all-sufficient love and grace, you will not be lured by the fleeting pleasures of sin. "But I thought we were supposed to live for the glory of God?" Yes, Exactly right. As John Piper says, "God is most glorified in you when you are most satisfied in Him."I highly recommend this book you. Read it slowly. Let the implications to your life sink in. You'll be forever changed. Much of the church is stuck in a man-centered effort trying to please God. Don't try harder, ENJOY MORE!

Used Book. Not New.
This devotional book is great but, I just received it and I do believe it’s a used book. Paid for a new one but this one is obviously been used or abused. Seller needs to pay more attention.

I never thought to "enjoy" God
I bought Pleasures Evermore after reading Larry Crabb's Finding God. Storms gives credit to John Piper who wrote Desiring God for the enlightenment he received. All three adhere to the teaching of Hedonism......taking pleasure in knowing God.I thought Sam Storms "hit the nail on the head" in his book. It opened many doors for me. I never thought to "enjoy" God. The entire book of Scriptures focus on Glorifying God. We would never eat a piece of chocolate cake oozing with fudge icing with a solemn face. We would enjoy it!! Then we would TELL how we enjoyed it. We were made to "enjoy."Sam Storms shows us how focusing on God and seeking His company will keep us from erring in all kinds of situations. I would recommend this book.

Encouragement
Sam Storms does an excellent job of demonstrating how powerful the love of God can be from a unique perspective. Many people naturally shy away from taking pleasure in their relationship with God. It often feels more like a burden than a blessing in our Christian walk. However, from Sam's point of view we are missing out on the real joy we can experience when we allow ourselves to see the Christian life from a rigid, legalistic point of view. This book is a good read for those who want a different take on a relationship with God.

Awesome Book
I loved this book! It was preached on in a sermon so I read it as a result. It was freeing and removes many stereotypes and misconceptions of religion.

Wow
Dr. Storms has given us a wonderful resource for those interested in living and not just surviving. I can truthfully state that after reading this book, my life has never been the same. I am thankful that I encountered this wonderful work. Some books are good, and some are life changing. This one is the latter. Thanks, Sam :-)

Very "religious"
This book is very dry and doesn't seem to be Holy Spirit led. I haven't decided if I'm going to give it to the Salvation Army or throw it in the recycle bin!!
