HydronixSPC-45-2005 Pleated Water Filter Whole House Commercial Industrial Washable and Reusable, 4.5" x 20" - 5 micron

I have had to deal with well water filtration for many years and have used many different brands. I use both the Big Blue 10 inch and 20 inch size filters. These Hydronix filters are absolutely the best filters of this type you will find on Amazon and any water filter sites. They fit perfectly in my housings.I have used four different brands and these by far are the best. In my installation the the 20 inch filter follows a centrifugal sand filter and the filtered water goes into 2500 gallon storage tank. Previously I used other brands of 25 micron pleated filters. With this Hydronix filter I am able to use the five micron filter and the water flow into the tank is higher than with those 25 micron filters. Best of all there is no longer any fine silt going into my storage tank. I use the 10 inch five micron pleated filter to filter water pumped from the storage tank. With other brands this 10 inch filter would quickly clog up and and then the one micron carbon block filter following it would clog and then I would have low flow rate and fine silt in my water.Using these Hydronix filters the water from the tank is clear and 10 inch filter is no longer needed. But I am leaving it in for backup. My carbon block no longer clogs and my water is the cleanest I have ever had. Shinning a laser beam through the water does not show any particulates. These filters are fantastic. The filters clean well using a hose nozzle to wash the silt off the pleated medium. I actually use two 20 inch filters -- swapping them out when one needs cleaning. I then clean the one that was in the housing and swap it the next time cleaning is needed. I have far less down time. I have not yet had to clean the 10 inch filter.I have clear housings so I can see when the filters are dirty. Its been over a month now and the 10 inch filter is still clear. I had to clean the other brands monthly. With these filters my 1 micron carbon block filter will last much longer. With these filters I have better water, higher flow rate, less silt damage to the water heater, better water conditioner performance, less clogging of irrigation drippers, and saves $.BTW, I have seen in these reviews that many people are having a lot of filter problems. The solution to most of these problems is to install a good centrifugal sand filter ahead of all the filters. Don't bother with the cheep plastic screen type -- they are junk. Pay the higher price for a flush-able steel centrifugal sand filter. And then flush it regularly. It will save you money in the long run.

As good if not better than Pentair, that deserved saying again. I am/was a water treatment specialist(still have the license but cant do the work physically) and i have used these for almost every job that needs this filter. I replaced pentair filters with these and got as good or better service.AND they are cheaper

only washable a time or two

Made in China. This product was made very well no defects and no problems.I'm having problems with the Canadian company I bought the filter housing from unable to try out the filter at this time. It looks great so I assume it will work great.Will update if I can ever get a none defective housing from the Canadian company so I can use this great looking filter.

The media could not be loaded. I have been using a reverse osmosis system for more than 40 years. I installed a Watts Blue Boy about 5 years ago because city water was getting worse year by year. In addition, I installed the watts, blue boy, with a 5-micron Hydronix filter, between the house and water softener tank. The collected debris was really upsetting, to say the least. I stopped using commercial water softeners because the suppliers, three different suppliers, were using my water system as a means of flushing worn-out resins and industrial waste from their tanks. I then got rid of the commercial soft water tank's and now I am finding that my city water system is not providing dependable potable water. Periodically my whole house filter and the RO 5 micron first stage filter capture what you see in the attached video. I have found that one must take steps in providing your own means of filtration as the city refuses to sample and test what you see in the video. I find that the whole house filtration is a good start in providing a visible means of identifying capturing the majority of water impurities. I will be expanding my filtration system in the near future with additional whole house filter stations. Clean water is becoming more and more difficult to obtain through city water distribution.

Nice filter and well constructed. I tried this brand over the generic I usually order at the "filters-r-us" type internet store. This one is less expensive and filters down to 5 microns instead of only 20 microns like the no-name filter. Fits like a glove (okay I guess it would actually be the OPPOSITE of a glove) right into my 20" filter housing. I use this as a single-stage filter on my city water supply to my three bedroom house...you'd be shocked at the gunk and silt this is able to filter out of the "clean" city water supply. Highly recommended if you don't have some sort of filtering system on your water supply.

Not sure what is meant by "Sheerness" , so didn't rate that quality. The filter is exactly as pictured in the listing and was the exact same as what my Water Professional used on installing my system. He recommended I order this filter from Amazon, as it was considerably cheaper here. I have to replace my filters on my system every 3 months, so the costs can add up over time. "Every penny saved, is a penny earned"!! I would definitely recommend this filter and also the vendor as I received it well packaged and in the amount of time they promised.

I bought this for our Whole House Sediment filter, It is installed after a 50 Micron Spin down filter. We have hard water and usually have a lot of rust and fine particles in it. We also have an RO system we are trying to reduce and keep the water as clean as possible before it gets to RO filters.
