Pine Wood Shims, Professional Contractor Grade (Box of 120)

I use wood shims to help set rocks securely in a vise before slabbing them in a slab saw. I had been using what my local hardware store usually had - always picking up 10 or 20 at a time because they get broken or lost in oil or stolen by the gnomes. I had been using Nelson kiln-dried wood shims for years because that's what my local store always carried... They work but they don't have a lot of give to them and often break instead of bend. I am sure they have lots of other great functions, but now that I've found these Pine shims, I don't think I'll ever use anything else.... The point of using shims in the vise is to protect your vise pads - so the stone digs into the shims but not into the pads. These have GREAT bite. You can really see the rock sinking into the shim when tightening the saw. And I love how you get 120 for just $22. This is the brand I'm sticking with from now on.

Not sure what you're looking for in a review of shims but uh....lots in a box. Break alright, but not weak. They're shims *shrug*

Overall unlike most shims i have dealt with which will can easily give you a blister. This set was well made and overall the best quality shim i have received.

The shims I received are high quality. No knots or blemishes and tapered smoothly.

I bought this box of shims for my craft projects. They are just perfect for what I needed. They came early. Wrapped well ,good thickness to them. I will order from this seller again!
