Running a Bar for Dummies

Great little book that's packed with useful information. A bit dated, but still worth the read and definitely should be part of your preparation if you're serious about opening your own bar. Super readable, amusing and practical, it's well laid out and contains lists, diagrams and even a chapter dedicated to bar jokes. Loved it.

if you know nothing about bars- get this book. If you have some idea - don't. It goes through a lot of basic common sense information

Have always found these books to be very informative. They seem to touch on every conceivable problem that you might run into. Best suited for someone like me is toying with the idea of buying a bar.

I plan to open my own restaurant and bar; have been doing extensive research for the last 5 years. This book was extremely helpful and informative. It really excites me about my future.

I suppose I should have listened to the title. A bartending magazine suggested this book, and I understood it would be helpful to even someone who has already had the experience of opening a bar and then a restaurant. I think it would be helpful to someone without those experiences. Other "Dummies" books have been helpful even with a little knowledge of the subject...not this one.

This is a very well-thought out and resourceful book full of information and insights into running a bar. Glad I purchased it.

Ok so I got a little bored in my work & I needed something to give me a little kick.

I don't know why, but I expected something better. Something with sample menus, tips from a bartender with experience with difficult customers, thieving employees, control of receipts, and the inside information as to why exactly does the bartender 'make' the successful bar.

I been trying to improve the bar side of my restaurant for some time and I had no idea where to start or how to run the bar. This is a great book to get learn how to get started in the industry, easy to read and straight to the point including keeping a theme, financing, how to train and maintain staff, how to improve your bottom line and keep your customers coming back again and again.

I'm planning to open my first bar (In downtown Tokyo) and this book is teaching me a lot of valuable stuff. Of course the mention about regulations don't help me, but if you are in the USA it will teach you everything you need. Want proof?Drop into Ton's Kitchen when it opens mid 2014 :-)

Amazing so easy to read, and retain the knowledge, just a great book for learning what you need!
