Undercover wars...
In "For God and the CIA", author Stephen Rookes tackles a challenging subject. He seeks to explain how Cuban counter-revolutionaries ending up fighting in the Congo in the late 1960's. The author has first to explain the origins of the Cold War to a generation of readers born after its end.The narrative is fairly solid given the brevity of this book, and is nicely reinforced by a fascinating selection of period photographs and modern illustrations of equipment, especially repurposed U.S. military aircraft. It is ironic but important that the Cuban exiles ended up facing some of their own communist former countrymen in the endgame in the Congo. Recommended to students of the period.
