Used this to stop the rattling of the copper lines in my wall from my A/C line set feeding my 5 ton unit. The lines run from my attic through an upstairs room wall, and continues through my downstairs living room. And I mean it's quiet. My walls are still open with no insulation, and I can barely hear anything. Prior to the MLV, I could hear the lines rattling through the insulation, sheet rock, and wood paneling that finished the walls. Still have enough to do the upstairs room. I'm currently remodeling my house that was built in 1974.

We have two bedrooms next to each other with just studs and Sheetrock (zero insulation) separating them. This seemed like the easiest solution until I received the MLV. FedEx guy gave up and left it half up my driveway. Good Lawd it is heavy and awkward as it gets to install. I was solo and it was one of the most difficult tasks I’ve ever done. I may have stretched it because it would not lay flat once on the wall. I cut it easily with a razor knife and used thick rubber HVAC tape on the seems, so it would lay flat. I put Shiplap over the MLV and the sound transmission is down about 75%.. that is my perception anyway. Cool stuff but have at least one other person there.

We bought a new Whirlpool refrigerator that is very noisy. We are on our 2nd one, and it is as noisy as the first one was. Aside from the noise, we really like the refrigerator, so I was hoping to find a way to dampen the compressor noise. I got the 5 pack of MLV sheets and built a little house around the compressor with the ends open for air to still cool it. It reduced the compressor noise by about 30%, and would have been more effective if I could have sealed it completely. So I can say that this stuff really does work. Unfortunately we now realize that fan in the freezer is also very noisy, so, it looks like we are going to have to get a different brand of refrigerator anyway.

I used it on a door and it made big difference. It cuts easily if you have heavy duty scissors. It does have a faint smell when you first unpack the roll. I left it in the garage for a week and now it only has a faint rubber smell which I don't even notice anymore. The roll was extremely heavy so be prepared to you use your muscles!

Amazing sound reduction over studs with mineral wool. If you want to glue it to wrap around objects like pipes or ductwork use Oatey x-15 glue for vinyl, same glue used for vinyl shower liners. It takes a few hours to dry, either let it get tacky before pressing the pieces together or tape/secure it while glue is drying. Others have complained about needing to use nails with washers like poly foam nails, at least with the 1lb version 3/8” T-50 staples every 12 inches was enough for me but it might depend on the underlying studs. I have old growth wood with rings about 1 mil each and the wood is more than 60 years old, super hard to drive fasteners into. The staples didn't hold at first as they weren't long enough. They held well after changing to a slightly longer version.

I had hoped applying this to my fence would reduce the noise from a neighbor's 6 dogs but did nothing. The dogs are several houses down the street but don't notice any change at all. Annoying dogs, annoying neighbor, and disappointed that this mass loaded vinyl is ultimately ineffective. My bad for trusting a few of the reviews. Oh Well....

This utility mat stunk so bad. Just spent the day laying down this heavy noise grabber under my bed. I am hoping that the obnoxious neighbor cannot keep me awake with her stereo base and non stop thummping and thudding. Fingers crossed. Otherwise I will order another roll of this noise grabber.

I thought it was just very dense vinyl and bought it to use as a sort of DIY dictation muzzle (see stenographer's dictation mask.After I started to make a mask with this item and used it a few times I found out QUITE BY ACCIDENT that this item and ones like it contain lead and other heavy metals to obtain high density and block sount.Oh my god. I was breathing in lead fumes for some time.DO NOT BREATHE NEAR THIS ITEM!!!!
