Abadeha: The Philippine Cinderella

This is the story of the Filipino Cinderella. I’m half Filipino and it was really interesting to read a story I’m so familiar but with aspects from my culture.

Added this to my cinderella unit because I had a student from Philippines. It's a little bit more violent than most cinderella stories: evil stepmom cuts up Abadeha's pet chicken and eats it. It's hard to find any decent stories from the Phillipines but this story fit my purposes.

My husband and I were so happy to find this! It is very hard to find good books for kids that teach/explain any culture or history of The Philippines. Lovely illustrations and well written. Arrived super prompt as well!

My fourth grade students loved it! I teach at a world culture study magnet school and we are learning about Asia.

I bought a used copy and it looked brand new. It was the perfect addition to the start of Cinderella books from around the world collection.

This book is beautifully illustrated and is quite useful in the classroom for comparing books and characters. My students enjoyed it.
