THIS IS ***NOT*** POLYGEL! This is better.
(Color #39 on nails)This is ***NOT*** a polygel or polygel product. This is builder gel in a tube. Majority reviews I saw were either complaining it’s too runny or raving about the ease of polygel. This is builder gel, in a squeeze tube. Polygel is much thicker, stays in place and needs to be worked with much more effort. QikGel needs little working by comparison. You need to know that gel moves whichever direction your hand is in, hence why most people turn their hand upside down (palm up!).I’m not a nail tech, just like extensions and watch most of the techs (and DIYers) who practice and show their craft on YouTube. I’ve tried the most popular/common types (acrylic done in a salon years ago, dip powder, polygel and now builder in a tube). This has been my favorite out of them, for speed, ease of use, final look and simplicity.First thing I have to note: CLEAN YOUR BRUSH, HEAVEN’S SAKE! It’s starched to keep the shape and protect the bristles. You can very gentle pick it out with your nails or use a little bit of alcohol. I used 70%, reshaped it gently and let it dry. The brush is NOT “ruined” fresh out, it’s starched like a paint brush. You DON’T need a slip solution; polygel needs slip or it sticks to everything. QikGel just wipes off the brush, it doesn’t cling or stick everything it comes in contact with (one of my major issues with polygel). You CAN’T overwork this; polygel will become speckled with white spots where it’s been overworked and this will come out as you cure and later file. QikGel can be manipulated as long as you want. I spend at least ~15 minutes just shaping the uncured gel with the brush until I was satisfied, then cured and went back in to build structure. I couldn’t do this with polygel as easily since the popits/dual forms don’t *naturally* has much arch/apex.This IS on the thinner side compared to polygel. Polygel is very thick and will only get slightly slippy/runny it it’s been exposed to too much slip solution. QikGel is builder gel in a tube, so it’s on the thinner side by nature. It doesn’t lack in strength, when built up properly. You shouldn’t have serious running issues unless you use way too much without curing between. You CAN be allergic to any and all nail extension products. It happens. You can burn your fingers by getting gel all over them and sticking them in the lamp. These things happen; it’s not the product’s fault entirely if you didn’t know you’d have a reaction.I really, really, truly enjoy QikGel by comparison to my misery/frustration with polygel (even after watching countless videos on poly—we’re not friends). I don’t care for the cover pinks (#40 is pretty, but #39 isn’t my cup of tea) in this kit, but that’s because I’m not a cover pink user myself. I wanted to give this a fair shot instead of going in with clear to build my first set (and my nails are still looking a little rough towards the free edges from removing dip nails in November). I didn’t want to splurge on one of the big color kits and end up hating it so this was the happy medium. These forms are *still* not my favorites but they’re workable—my form shaping is good, my hyponychium on some fingers is a little funky, and these are just thicker than I like. I’ll have to try other forms. The lamp is cute and functional, cured easily. I did have heat spikes—I think that’s my nails in combination with gel products, based on using gel on my bare (non-damaged) nails before. The brush is nice! Good weight, nice length and the tip is great at cleaning any accidental cuticle spills. Probably my favorite thing. Reiterating this: PLEASE CLEAN YOUR BRUSH. The bristles are starched, nothing else. I dipped mine in a little bit of 70% alcohol and gently shaped it before I dove into doing my nails. The gel itself, oh lawd. This is heaven. It’s easy to squeeze out. I dab little beads along my free edge then do a zigzag maybe 1/3 or less up the nail plate. I gently push it up to the cuticle before working the free edge. Once I’m satisfied with the nail plate, I add more to the form to make my length, hold my hand upside down (palm up) and cure. I don’t have issues with this running like other reviews say—it never dripped off my nail or the form; if anything, running was fairly minimal. It would usually shift some to either the right or the left, before I would catch it to try to re-center it. I flip my hand over to let it move on it’s own with a little brush maneuvering but this doesn’t always work. In that case, I cure them build in my structure and account for the shift to the right or left before curing.Finish filing and shaping was easy. I have two sturdy 180/100 grit files I prefer and used those. The file in the kit isn’t bad, I only used it to buff my nail plate or neaten the free edge of my natural nail. It won’t hold up to the full finish filing if you need to do that. Finish filing any accidental bumps/lumps and refining the shape was beautifully easy. That took me about ~10 minutes tops to get a nice apex filed and clean free edge. These are beautifully light weight, feel sturdy and look wonderful. My edges are thin enough to scratch an itch but thick enough to not break. I’ll likely buy the nude QikGel trio so I have more options, and continue to hope Makartt turns some of their polygel colors into QikGel colors.I will update when I need an infill/possibly removal.

YES!
Disclaimer: I am not a professional nail tech.I bought this kit before Thanksgiving because I wanted to treat myself to glamorous nails over the holidays and I'm still not comfortable visiting the nail salon during the pandemic. This was my first time using any kind of UV Gel extender. I've used this kit 5 times in the last 8 weeks and just woooowwwwww! WOW!There is some work required to get this right. Doing a full set takes time and there is a learning curve, but my manicures have been stunning. If you're impatient this probably isn't for you, but if you just take your time the results are really worth it!I probably watched 5 hours of youtube videos learning how to use this stuff properly before I started which definitely helped. Ultimately, I love how much control I have over the shape, length, and thickness. It's more complicated than glue on tips, but in my opinion, the effort is worth it for the end result to be more natural-looking.This kit is weeellll worth the price. There's a lot of product remaining after my 5 manicures. I think I'll run out of forms before I run out of gel.Definitely do some youtube research to figure out if this is for you. The one downside is that you have to file it off which can cause a lot of trauma to your nail beds. Again with this product, patience and taking your time is key for the best results.I'd buy this again in a heartbeat.

Horrible item
Do not buy! This is nothing like regular colored makartt poly gel. It is watery. More clear liquid coming out than actual colored gel. Plus they won't let you return it. I would stay away from this product.

Love it
Disclaimer: I'm not a professional writing this review nor am I receiving any payment for promoting this product. I'm just a regular person who likes to do nails. I've been using the traditional polygel and I'm very happy with it. I tried this product because it doesn't need the slip solution and I figured that will make it much easier and quicker to apply. Because the gel is thinner than the traditional polygel it takes a little more work to get an even coat of gel on your nails. I used a thicker coating and then used my nail drill to even out the surface. The foils are thick and sturdy, which helps to get a natural looking nail.Overall I like this gel better than the traditional polygel. I think my nails look and feel more natural. This gel is also more durable, as I'm writing this review, I've had the nails on for over a week and they still look great despite having worked a lot with my hands.

There’s so much potential
I usually wait to buy a product until it’s been out awhile -but I didn’t do that for this bc I was too intrigued. Honestly it works just as it says, and it last as long as the original poly gel. But when I used it it was a hot day, which is the reason why I think I had such a messy tune with it -it was just to thin to “build “ on any nail with. But if it was colder inside my house, I think the consistency of the thickness would have been workable.I’m going to try it again tho, this time not when it’s hot.I ended up mixing it with a little of the original super thick poly gel (the one that uses slip)And I was able to build with that, and my nails stayed 2 weeks + until I removed them with actions myself -so they are strong. If you’re new To using poly gel products though, this is not what I would begin to try it out with, I think a more experienced person may find this gel more suitableAll in all tho -I would recommend to buy this product to my friends who are looking for an alternative to going to the salon but having fake nails.

Fantastic Set and Excellent Value For Money!!!!!
Wow, I really love this set and it comes with everything you need in order to do a set of Gel Extensions (which makes this set extremely cost effective as well). The products were all neatly packaged together in this gorgeous pink box and it comes with;12 different colours (1 of them is Clear)A Top and Base CoatSculpting Forms100/180 Grit File in PinkAnd a Pink Gel Brush (Beautiful Brush) - please remember to prep your brushes before use. You need to prep your brush to ensure that you get all of the glue out of the bristles. If you don't prep your brush, you can end up wrecking a perfectly good brush. It also came with a little booklet of Instructions which were very easy to follow.I picked 5 of these gorgeous colours to try and I was definitely not disappointed. I found this Gel super easy to work with because each tube has a thin nozzle and all you have to do is gently squeeze the tube to get the product out onto the nail. The nozzle is the perfect size to get the product out in a nice continuous line and you just move the product from sidewall to sidewall gently in order to cover the nail and the tip (which is a sculpting form in this case). Then use the brush to move any bits of gel (if needed) to make the shape required.I squeezed the tube slightly more around the section of the nail that needs the most support (to form the apex). It was a dream to work with this Gel because it went onto the nail so effortlessly and i found it so easy to create the right shape and thickness needed for both the strength and structure of the nail. The colours are so pretty especially for this time of year (Spring) because they all look like they're from a pastel range (which I use a lot). However, the colours are still nicely pigmented and every one of the colours look fantastic both Matte and/or Glossy.I literally used 5 of the different different colours on clients in the first week of purchase and they were all so happy with the outcome of their nails. When I finished with each colour I gently squeezed the tube until I got a tiny bead of gel and then I replaced the lid, this was to try and prevent any air from getting trapped in the tube while storing them.I have used these colours several times now since purchase and I have no complaints whatsoever. This set comes with easy to follow step by step instructions on how to use these products and coupled with the fact that each tube has this special nozzle for ease of application I think this Set is extremely beginner friendly.I can't wait to purchase and try out more colours from the Makartt Qikgel range, I hope they are all as easy to work with as these were. Many ThanksSarah x
