The chapters are written from different character perspectives which is done actually pretty well. More and more characters get added and it can be hard to keep track of who is who but you do remember who the key players are. I think the world built and the plot line are gonna be just as good in the next book, so I’m excited to read the other ones.

This is a must-read for any fantasy, paranormal reader who enjoys young adult, fade to black, slow building tension, battles, and journeys. It is exciting and full of incredible characters. Also, this gives voice to those who feel like they don't belong. It is addictive and made my heart melt several times.

Beck Michaels's debut novel absolutely blew me away. It was hard to remember this was in fact her first novel, as her writing is seamless. She has mastered world-building to the point I would forget at times I was reading. It was the best reading experience as I felt like I was being pulled into Urn - which I would love to visit if I could!Fans of fantasy need to read this series, as I believe Beck Michaels to be the next Tolkien.Multiple P.O.Vs tend to worry me as they can be difficult to fall, and pull me away from the story - but Divine Blood is written elegantly. Each POV gets you invested and moves the story further along. There is no break in the story!I am completely and utterly obsessed with this series in every way 🖤

I have been looking for a long time for book to read .. a paranormal fantasy specifically!! This book was awesome.., love the characters … love the plot!! Can’t wait to read book 2!!5 plus stars!

I feel like it’s been a long time since I’ve enjoyed a book this much! Usually I hate starting new series because I don’t like the build up of everything but I was instantly drawn in and enjoyed every second of this book! The world and the characters were so fun to get to explore. And can I just say that I love that there was a protective male (Zev) that wasn’t the love interest and that was refreshing to see! All in all I love this book!

Ok. Wow. I was not expecting this book. Sure, I read the description and decided to give it a go but was so very surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. It has a little bit of everything that I want want from a story and the world was so beautifully written.Dyna is a human who can wield healing essence, a sort of magic passed down through her blood line. Dyna’s parents and younger brother were taken violently from her when she was 8 years old by a shadow demon. A year out from when the demon is set to return Dyna decides to set out on a quest to find a magic item that will help her defeat the demon and save the children of her village, including her little sister. On her way to find her cousin, Zev, and ask him to go with her she has to venture into a forbidden forest where she is almost killed...twice, but saved...twice... by Cassiel. Cassiel is a tall, dark, Celestial with a haunted past and secret to match.This book really a little bit of everything in it, from magic, to different mystical beings, to a slow burn romance which is everything I enjoy from a good fantasy. Now, let’s talk main characters, there is Dyna, Zev, and Cassie. Dyna and Zev are cousins and quite protective of each other, specifically Zev towards Dyna as she is really the only family he has left. Dyna and Cassiel are drawn towards one another and don’t know why. Cassiel is everything, EVERYTHING, this girl right here looks for in a leading male. Tall, dark, haunted, giant black wings.... I mean come on...Beck Michaels had me right there but add in that Dyna, the female lead is a fiery redhead with a penchant for healing and magic... I’m in.

I'm so glad I waited til all the books were out, so I don't have to wait! (I don't think I could,lol) this book started off really slow for me, it took a few chapters for me to get into the story, but once I did....WOW! The characters are wonderful, I really enjoyed watching them grow and develop and look forward to more. I really like all the side characters and think the author is doing a wonderful job of developing them as well as tying their stories together, and in a way that is not super obvious. I can't wait to see what comes next.I hope that the author will add a little steam to the love aspect of the book.... Hehe😉 if you are on the fence with this book get off of it! Its a wonderful book!

I had seen Divine Blood around Bookstagram thanks to some wonderful bookish friends, and I am so glad I finally picked up this book. Beck Michaels delivers everything I love in a swoony YA fantasy: fantastic world-building, interesting characters, great dialogue, and a sweet, slow-burn romance.I LOVED THIS BOOK. Divine Blood opens with Dyna, a young healer who has lost everything. She decides to go on a journey to try to save her village from a terrible threat from a shadow demon. Along the way, she meets handsome prince Cassiel, a Celestial. Cassiel is distant and rude until he realizes that Dyna may be the key to reaching a destination he has been searching for his entire life. Their lives may be entwined in ways that neither of them expects.Divine Blood is packed with magical creatures and interesting characters, and each is more compelling than the last. Every character is believable and complex. There are angels, fae, werewolves, vampires, demons, sorcerers, and more. While Divine Blood does end on something of a cliffhanger, I found it to be a very satisfying ending that just made me really excited to read the next book.I can't recommend it highly enough for fans of Jennifer Armentrout, Laura Thalassa, Holly Black, Raven Kennedy, and Sarah J Maas.Book two, Bonded Fate, is out on August 3. I can't wait to see where Michaels takes us next on this journey.

This book is beautifully written from start to finish. It has been a long time since I’ve read an adventure story I’ve so thoroughly enjoyed. All the characters are well fleshed out and developed and the world building paints a masterly crafted and vivid picture. Purchase this book. I have this book on kindle but will be purchasing a hard copy for my bookshelf also, it’s that good. I am very much anticipating the next instalment. This story will stay with me. What a gem.

ACTUAL RATING: 3.5Questo libro era in TBR da almeno un anno, e finalmente ho trovato il momento adatto a leggerlo!L’hype che lo circonda è veramente tanto, e devo riconoscere all’autrice un talento particolare per il marketing, perché un solo sguardo al suo feed su Instagram è in grado di farti venir voglia di leggere questa saga.Mi aspettavo qualcosa in più, ma sono comunque soddisfatta e ho già cominciato il sequel — Bonded Fate.TRAMA: Dynalia vive con la nonna e la sorellina in un villaggio chiamato North Star, nel regno di Azure. Dyna ha perso i genitori e il fratellino a causa di un Demone Ombra che affligge il suo villaggio, presentandosi puntuale come un orologio svizzero e cibandosi di bambini. Cresciuta con il ricordo traumatico di quella notte, Dyna è disposta a tutto pur di sconfiggere definitivamente il demone — anche avventurarsi per la prima volta al di fuori di North Star, abbandonandone la protezione che lo tiene nascosto e segreto. Dyna è infatti una sorceress — una maga, discendente della rinomata famiglia Astron. La sua magia (o Essenza, come viene chiamata nel libro) non è molta, ma basta per renderla una “nemica” dell’impero Magos, dove vivono tutti coloro che possiedono Essenza, e dove alle donne è severamente proibito essere sorceresses. Abbandonare North Star significa quindi rischiare di essere catturata, ma Dyna è convinta di aver trovato il modo di scacciare il Demone Ombra per sempre, e si ritiene responsabile di questa missione.Tuttavia, non se la sente di affrontare il viaggio da sola, e si reca quindi a Lykos Peak per chiedere a suo cugino Zev di accompagnarla. Il viaggio si rivelerà estremamente lungo e pieno di insidie, con nemici pronti a colpire da ogni angolo, e nuovi alleati pronti ad intervenire nei momenti più disperati.Ho letto che Divine Blood viene paragonato a Il Signore degli Anelli, e devo dire che potrebbe ricordarlo, sebbene molto alla lontana.Il tema principale di questo primo libro è il viaggio, che avviene con estrema lentezza, dando modo al lettore di sentirsi veramente parte di questa missione, e di conoscere da vicino i tre protagonisti e i loro possibili alleati.Come primo libro manca sicuramente di plot, nel senso che è maggiormente focalizzato sul viaggio e sull’avvicinamento cauto ma inesorabile dei tre protagonisti. Può risultare un pochino pesante in alcuni punti, ma fortunatamente i personaggi sono ben delineati e caratterizzati, e l’evolversi dei loro rapporti riesce a soppesare la mancanza di varietà nelle scene.AMBIENTAZIONE: il world-building di Divine Blood è molto complesso, e si vede che c’è stato un gran lavoro di minuzia da parte dell’autrice. Forse a tratti è anche troppo vasto, e spesso mi sono ritrovata a leggere nomi di posti senza avere alcuna voglia di andare a controllare sulla mappa dove si trovassero. Inoltre, essendo il libro prettamente character-driven, non viene posto un gran focus sull’ambientazione — molti luoghi vengono semplicemente nominati, ma senza particolari spiegazioni. Mi sono piaciute molto le due scene nei villaggi che i protagonisti attraversano durante il loro viaggio, e in particolare tutte quelle “comparse” che contribuiscono a rendere la narrazione più realistica, aiutando il lettore a immergersi nell’atmosfera dei luoghi rappresentati.STILE DI SCRITTURA: lo stile di Beck Michaels è semplice ma efficace, e riesce ad alleggerire e a rendere coinvolgente una narrazione di per sé priva di grande movimento. Ho apprezzato molto la sua capacità di dare una voce propria, ben distinta, ai vari POV presenti nel libro. Non è una narrazione che ti spinge a voltare pagina e a leggere fino alle 3 di notte, ma è sicuramente una di quelle letture piacevoli che hai comunque voglia di portare avanti e concludere.PERSONAGGI: Divine Blood presenta un cast di personaggi veramente eterogeneo — dagli angeli ai licantropi, dagli umani ai troll, dai minotauri ai maghi, dagli elfi ai fae.Ho apprezzato molto come ogni personaggio avesse una propria agenda da seguire, un proprio motivo, completamente diverso da quello degli altri. Motivi che poi, in qualche modo, li portano tutti a ritrovarsi negli stessi luoghi e a cercare più o meno la stessa cosa.Questo intreccio di arc narrativi e di vite mi ha ricordato molto la struttura de Il Trono di Ghiaccio della mia amata Sarah J. Maas. Trovo che dia modo al lettore di percepire chiaramente come tutti questi personaggi siano predestinati a incrociarsi, ma allo stesso tempo il tutto non risulta assolutamente forzato.Ma andiamo più nel dettaglio:Dynalia è una protagonista piacevole, ma per i miei gusti decisamente troppo Mary Sue. Dyna è una di quelle ragazze incredibilmente buone, generose, ottimiste, che cercano sempre il meglio nelle persone e che sono disposte a perdonare anche il peggiore degli affronti. A volte è ingenua, debole, distratta, e tende a mettersi nei guai di frequente, necessitando ogni volta l’aiuto di Zev e/o Cassiel. A volte, però, riesce a mostrare un minimo di spina dorsale, e sinceramente mi auguro vivamente che vedremo sempre di più questo suo lato perché non ne posso più di tutto questo buonismo.Zev ricalca perfettamente il ruolo di fratello maggiore iper protettivo, e la sua storia spezza veramente il cuore. Non mi sento incredibilmente affezionata a lui, ma apprezzo molto il suo ruolo nella vita di Dyna e sono molto curiosa di scoprire come si svilupperà il suo personaggio. Spero soprattutto che possa arrivargli finalmente qualche gioia.Cassiel è il classico principino irrigidito, che però sotto sotto nasconde un cuore d’oro spezzato innumerevoli volte dall’odio e dal razzismo dei suoi simili. Il suo arco narrativo è sicuramente il più interessante per ora, poiché è quello in cui vediamo più cambiamenti. Ho amato tutte le scene ironiche, il suo sarcasmo, e le volte in cui gli saliva il cringe pesante dopo aver detto qualcosa di particolarmente affettuoso o sensibile. Inoltre ho apprezzato tantissimo il suo spirito di auto-critica, e la sua apertura mentale nel riconoscere i propri errori.Von, Rawn e Lucenna sono per ora dei semplici personaggi secondari, ma non ho dubbi che assumeranno maggiore importanza nei libri successivi. Rawn mi piace tantissimo e adoro il suo modo di parlare, Lucenna mi ha conquistata fin da subito con la propria forza, mentre Von è per ora quello di cui mi interessa meno, e i suoi capitoli mi hanno un po’ annoiata, sebbene mi renda conto che risultano utili per capire cosa succede sul fronte Tarn.RELAZIONI: come ho già detto, ai rapporti tra i vari personaggi viene dato ampio spazio di evoluzione e crescita, cosa che apprezzo sempre molto perché a mio parere rende il tutto molto più realistico e credibile. Mi è piaciuto molto assistere alla lenta nascita di un’amicizia tra Zev e Cassiel — specialmente nel momento in cui Cassiel si rende conto di aver riservato a Zev lo stesso trattamento che gli altri Celestiali hanno sempre riservato a lui, facendolo sentire un miserabile per tutta la vita.Il rapporto tra Dyna e Cassiel è invece più particolare, perché da una parte li shippo e dall’altra no: innanzitutto, non sopporto la debolezza di Dyna nei confronti di Cassiel. Riesce a tenergli testa solo una volta, ma per il resto lascia che lui le parli come gli pare e piace, eppure non gli porta alcun rancore e non lascia mai che l’atteggiamento ostile e arrogante di lui la porti a diventare altrettanto scortese con lui. Insomma, avrei preferito che all’inizio si facesse rispettare di più, invece il rispetto di Cassiel nei suoi confronti deriva unicamente dalla nascita di sentimenti per Dyna. Inoltre, questi sentimenti che nascono tra i due non sono proprio ben spiegati, non si capisce bene cosa li porti ad apprezzarsi a vicenda, ma sembra più un qualcosa che semplicemente doveva succedere perché doveva andare così, il che mi fa pensare che in qualche modo i due siano predestinati.Detto ciò, Beck Michael è comunque riuscita a renderli piacevoli.CONSIDERAZIONI FINALI: Divine Blood è un libro che vale sicuramente la pena leggere, e che pone le basi per una tetralogia degna di competere con nomi ben più famosi. Se cercate un libro dal ritmo più lento, che vi dia modo di esplorare ogni personaggio a fondo, di affezionarvi alla missione, e di affrontare anche temi più profondi come il lutto e il rimorso, allora questo libro fa decisamente al caso vostro!

Dive into Divine Blood if you are a fan of journies, self discovery, protective brooding males who compare *cough*wingspan (if you know, you know), werewolves, shapeshifters, elves, Fae, magic, bad ass females, flawed characters who make mistakes and who you want to wrap in bubble wrap to protect from mean authors (hehe, I didn't mean it Beck, promise) and found families.In all seriousness and honesty this book was amazing every time I have read it. I am lucky enough to be a part of Beck's Street team, and she is so dedicated to these characters, telling their stories, seeing their growth and knowing that we as readers we are loving, enjoying and understanding the story and that it is making sense and is clear to us...but Beck also likes to gather our tears, so be prepared to shed some. Now what are you waiting for, add the book to your cart and the sequel Bonded Fate, while you're at it, because if Divine Blood is 5 stars, Bonded Fate is all of the stars!!

A book with celestials, werewolves, and magic, oh my!Checklist:A cinnamon roll leading lady who is captivating and adorable. Check.A haunted, deeply scarred and overly protective Werewolf to whom you just want to cuddle, telling him everything is going to be okay? Double check.A brooding, sarcastic Celestial who you want to in equal parts scold and flirt with? Triple Check!The fantasy world the author created is so intricate and captivating, the characters are beautifully written (I have favourites - I’m looking at you Zev.)There are multiple POV’s but I’d consider Dynalya, Zev and Cassiel the main trio who push this epic tale forward.That ending!!!! It’s was like a BAM moment where you turn the page and rage when the words are no more and the only thing you can do is howl into the wind, “Bring me book 2!”

A slightly slow start, but we’ll worth sticking with it. A delightful fantasy, with a cast of characters reminiscent of LotR.The writing isn’t perfect but again the story is worth it.
