Liar [Blu-ray]

This film is a thriller, maybe only a three-star thriller, but it is more: it addresses one of the toughest questions faced by the MeToo and Time'sUp Movement - why? Why have women been so conspicuously incapable of protecting themselves against sexual predation? Why have beasts like Andrew Earlham (in the film) been able to walk free? We have laws. We have a police force committed to the protection of women. We have millions of men - husbands, fathers, normal, decent men - who are heart and soul on board the Time'sUp train. The film shows all this without being overly programmatic. So the WHY question? The film offers an answer that rings at least partly true. Almost all the male characters walk away from problems they have created wearing a halo of self-righteousness: they were not to blame. Laura's ex headmaster is an odious example. And the women? They blame themselves even when they are not to blame, they feel contaminated, and reproach themselves. "If only I had been a little more careful, this disaster would not have happened." Of all Andrew's victims, only the splendid Joanne Frogatt as Laura has the persistence and the cunning to take good old-fashioned revenge. I'm sure everyone who watches the film is behind her in this. But she herself is riddled with doubt. Though she survives, she is harmed. Sadly, even if the film contributes part of the answer to the question WHY, it does not help much with the question HOW. How do we bring the miserable situation of Laura and women like her to an end?A thought-provoking five-star production.

This is a brilliant tv series which I watched when it was on tv, and wanted to catch up before Series 2 as it was a while since the first series. It was very edge of the seat entertainment, and of course no adverts.

Remember it being shown on tv, enjoyed watching, great to watch again 👍😊

The brilliant ITV series which was so tense to the last moment - definitely worth buying!

Excellent drama, initiaallt was not sure about Joanne Frogget but by the end I really thought she played a good part. Well worth watching.

Very good tv series and good delivery service on time and very polite too

It was well written but it ended predictably. The ending was surprising even though, it was predictable.

Surpris de ne pas avoir la version française. Visionné avec les sous titres en anglais et l application reverso- bon moyen pour réviser l anglais.Vivent la saison2
