The Song Garden

I did a lesson with this during remote teaching for my 4th & 5th graders. They really loved how I played the song gardens throughout and laughed at watching me try to play several notes at once with my recorder on their submitted song gardens.I also asked them how to pronounce Calla's name which was led to a whole other fun conversation!

I was fascinated by the author’s use of her imagination to create this lovely story about flowers that make music. The story demonstrates to children that, with a bit of encouragement, they, too, can be creative. Nothing is impossible if you are determined! The illustrations are charming and the book is well-written.

I certainly loved this story. Plant your own music and style into your life. The music of your life comes from within. A special mention for the rhythm of the story and the illustrations. I just loved the story.

Super cute book that introduces kids to the concept of "there are no wrong answers." Kids can get the boost of encouragement they need to be creative!

My boys enjoyed the illustrations and colorful pages so much! We also were able to talk about creativity and how there are no right and wrong ways to make art. We love thinking outside of the box so this was a perfect book to reinforce our way of playing. Great read!

In this beautifully illustrated books. Readers learn life lessons like making music, art and the joys of creativity! It doesn’t have to be perfect you just have to be bold like Calla to do it!

Such a fabulous book! I love the story of the garden of music -- this book has made me want to plant a song garden of my own! A Must have for music teachers everywhere!!!
