The Recipe Box: A Novel (The Heirloom Novels)

Loved this book! Well written, well developed characters. Viola Shipman (pen name) is a wonderful author who brings you into a special time and place with each book. Highly recommend and believe you will want to read every book this author has beautifully written. I'm hooked and believe you will be as well.

Viola Shipman writes the sweetest books. You can most always relate the characters to someone you know. I really enjoyed all three books in this collection.

You can not pick just one Viola shipman book without finding a gem of wisdom in it! Another fave of mine!

Heartwarming family story. You could feel the love pouring from Willow. Family is the most important part of life and it is shared so much in this book.

Liked the book, easy read with a happy ending, kinda knew the ending. No surprises in this read, that's what I didn't like. I like a book with a twist.

Such a good read

Before you read my first sentence, note I gave this book 5 stars. Ok, first sentence: One more edit might have been beneficial before publishing. Enough said about that.This book gave me a great deal of hope for the future. It’s a feel good book, but not to the point of being so sickening sweet it makes your teeth hurt. It’s a clean book — no off color scenes. The characters are believable.Why did this book give me hope? My own situation being that I am nearing my 60th year and have been widowed once, sometimes I wake wondering, “What’s it all for?” (These thoughts breaking through though I am a woman of faith.) This book reminded me that even something as simple as cooking, a task we do everyday, connects us to family, shares our love. And they feel it.Inspired by this book, I purchased a beautiful wooden recipe box for my granddaughter for Christmas. I am in the process of writing out some of our family’s favorite recipes, which I will place in the box. As in the book, I am having my mom write out her recipe for thumbprint cookies then ink her thumbprint on the back of the card. I will then add my thumbprint, my daughter, hers, and finally my granddaughter’s. Perhaps I will be around long enough to see one more generation add theirs.I highly recommend The Recipe Box, by Viola Shipman. Oh, did I mention there are no less than a dozen wonderful recipes spaced throughout the book?!

Came perfectly as described and quickly. Would definitely buy from this seller again. And the book itself is wonderful. Viola Shipman is an incredible writer that makes you feel apart of the family.

Very good but I enjoyed The Charm Bracelet and The Hope Chest more.

Great read! Great story. Another favourite by author Viola Shipman. Loved all the recipes. Now to try some of them!

The concept is good, but the book could use some editing and restructuring. The inclusion of recipes is fun. The plot gets quite repetitive and the author repeats certain sentences over and over and over. Also, the language is a bit heavy handed.
