I like this book! A lot!!! / Update 2
For a book of double sided pages with NOT much tooth, I love this book! The two blue jars and the cranes were done with Inktense, the last was mixed media (water color, and color soft pencils). All the pencils went on smoothly! I was saprised because there really was no tooth to the paper! The paper didn't seem very thick but neither the watercolor or Intense blead through to the other side! I've still not tried my alcohol markers. As soon as I do, I'll post the results.--------------Update 7-6-17:I used color is alcohol pens on one page. DON'T use them on this paper. Ok, I can deal with the bleed through 3 paged but it spreads out too!!! I'm sick. It so ruined my book!! If I didn't have so many book, I'd buy this one again and start over!!!Moral: NO ALCOHOL MAEKERSUpdate: 2-20-17If you buy this book, make copies before you start coloring as if you are working on the back side of a page, the front side may be marking the back side of the page before it. It's like the ink didn't set! But I love the art work and havin a blast coloring it! Ok, now, as promised, finished PICTURES!!!

Just okay book!
This book wasn't great, but okay. The pictures look like fun and would be good for a less advanced colorist. Two things I didn't like about the book. 1) The pages are on thinner paper and double sided, which means you'll only be able to use colored pencils....pens and markers will completely bleed through and ruin the picture on the other side. 2) Many of the pictures had too many areas pre-filled in black. I like it when they leave more for the colorist to use their imagination. If you don't mind the above 2 reasons why I didn't it, then it would be a good book for you.

Pretty everyday Japanese designs.
(Kat here)Very nicely done, my only qualm is that there aren't very many pictures. Not as noticeable with other Dover books, because the pages are generally very intricate. These designs are quite simple in comparison, but I was pretty sure of that before purchasing. I had hoped for a bit more variety, such as some traditional tattoo designs, no such luck. Still though, for what it is, not bad at all. I use these to re-draw and practice my water-coloring & inking skills between work, and my little boy (almost 5) loves to sit at the table and paint with me, too. These are perfect for him, as he likes the more grown-up stuff that mommy does.

Dover Design Coloring Books
This item arrived in a timely manner with adequate packaging.Coloring is a great pastime for taking away your stress and reverting you back to your childhood. These Dover Design Coloring Books are great for that purpose. The pages are wonderfully drawn and makes coloring a very happy experience. The content is more mature that of your standard kid's coloring book which makes them fun to use. Children can also use them so you can enjoy this activity together. A very inexpensive form of entertainment everyone can enjoy. I highly recommend these books to bring back the kid in you!

Fun and relaxing
For the price this book is a great deal for beginners who want to give it a try before spending more money. The book contains black and white designs that are both intricate and less intricate ones that take less concentration and time. So far I have colored two pages of the lesser designs to get used to the colored pencils. Coloring for me is a great way to relieve stress and I can take it with me because it is not bulky or heavy. I'm looking forward to coloring more of the detailed patterns. Half the fun is deciding on what colors to use. Mistakes? No problem. It is not going into an art gallery! :)

Very neat and interesting
This book is quite cool.. I love that at the bottom of every page they have a small description of the design and where it came from- kind of a cool feature I haven't seen on any other coloring books. The designs themselves are very beautiful... the only downside is quite a few have large portions filled in in black that would have been great to color. Other than that, it is a lovely book for anyone who loves Japanese culture and art.

not a lot of pages, but it does have some nice pictures. If the average adult coloring books with the tiny spaces to color makes your eyes go cross (like it does mine after a bit) this is perfect. There isn't a lot of the tiny spaces that need to be filled in. If it had more pages, I would have given it more stars.

Beautiful Designs to Color
I have admitted before and will again: I'm an adult, but I still love to color, possibly because I can't even draw a straight line with a ruler! I do like adult coloring books, though, and not ones aimed at children. This has beautiful and often intricate Japanese designs, most of them historic, and also provides an idea of the colors that would have been used with the originals (I like that, as I'd like them to look like they would have looked, although of course I could use any colors I wanted). This is not just enjoyable, it's also a lesson in historic fashion, and I enjoy learning that too.

Lovely pictures
I was disappointed at first as the book is so thin. But the pictures are lovely, only a few I don't like - the paper is not good and if you use felt pens they bleed through which is a shame as it is printed on both sides, the first 2 I did without checking so now I can't use the other picture. Best to use pencils for this book, the pictures are not full A4 size, many have an inch border around them and others are circular. Although the pictures are lovely I am so glad I didn't pay full price for this book.

Beautiful designs, exactly what you might expect - flowers
Beautiful designs, exactly what you might expect - flowers, fish, birds, lovely fans, butterflies and dragons. Something for everyone. Good quality paper, better when using pencils rather than felt tip/fibre pens. Good for children but better for adults who like to have their own colouring books (and why shouldn't we!

Just ok, really.
Some of the patterns become tedious, such as the repeat bamboo leaves. Many of the designs look great when completed, but some are rather boring and I found myself finishing them, purely because I had started. Just ok, really.

good paper! Designs on both sides of the page ...
Cute designs, good paper! Designs on both sides of the page though, which can't stand up to markers/pens or burnishing with pencils.
