While OEM Black and Decker replacement caps (when you can find them) are being sold for half the cost of a new trimmer, it's great to find an acceptable replacement at a fair price, especially when you consider an extra cap, spools and spare springs are included. Since my last trimmer was an auto feed model (the kind only bought by LOSERS), which fed out and wasted cutting line like crazy, and new bump feed trimmers are getting harder to find, it's especially nice to get more use from my 20+ year trimmer.I can use the cap on my ST4500 model trimmer, but the fit was tight at first: I had to firmly push on the cap to fully seat, and to use a flat head screwdriver inserted into the gaps beneath the exposed tab ends at either side of the rotor cutouts to pry it back up. However, after a few uses, I can once again depress the tabs with my nails for removal.

I only needed to replace the bumper cap part and couldn’t find that part by itself so I guess it’ll be easier once I need to replace the line. This cap fits my Black & Decker 4000ST ... kind of. That’s why I lowered the number of stars on easy to install and use. It fits, but is a more rigid type of plastic than the original, so it didn’t easily snap in place. I think after several tries I ended up tapping it in with the handle of a screw driver. The original had lasted me about 20 years on rough terrain, I expect I’ll probably be replacing this one frequently because it doesn’t appear to have the flexibility to last. The way it winds and loads is also quite different so I don’t know how easy it will be refill my own spools. But for now it’s all I could find and it does what it’s supposed to while I’m weed whacking.

The cover was difficult to put on, and is too tight a fit. I had to sand down the edges to get it to fit, and it is still hard to remove. As a result, the black button that is used to manually release the line from the spool remains pushed in most of the time.I made it work, but it doesn't work as well as the original.

They string it not taut when trimming, it goes willy nilly therefore, hacking the weeds and grass instead of actually cutting. Maybe they aren't wrapped as tightly as the namebrand, but the string just is not tight when you're trimming. .

These comes 2 cap replacements as well the as the 8 spoils...very good value for the money.

This item is perfect. Fits great and is a good buy.

This was just as describes, a great value and I don't have to think about buying new string or the cover for my greenworks trimmer for quite a while which is just what I wanted - buy it. Quality is perfectly acceptable.
