Unbelievably Comfortable
I have been buying ASICS athletic shoes for over 20 years. I was so impressed by the 1st pair, mainly because of the Gel inserts. Over the years, they have continued to develop new materials and designs. They have also introduced so many new models, it's hard to keep track. The prices vary wildly, mainly because a lot of the shoes do not include the best of their materials or designs. If you are new to ASICS athletic shoes, dig through the details to ensure you're looking at a model that incorporates all of the best features. Obviously, the best ones come at a premium price. So, I had a pair of ASICS "work" shoes that were starting to wear-out. They were made to have a low-key appearance, that didn't draw attention to the fact that they were athletic shoes. Now I find out that ASICS discontinued the model. After some searching, I found these - Gel Quantum 180 4 Men's Running Shoe. They have all the best materials and design (including Gel inserts, front and rear). They are also black on black, which doesn't draw attention to them. The 1st pair I ordered were too small, which really surprised me. I went up one size, and they fit great. They are amazingly comfortable - like walking on a cloud. You have to experience them for yourself...

Pass On This Shoe
Asics are one of my favorite shoe brands. I've owned several pairs and they are always good shoes. Some better than others but no real complaints. This shoe, as many others have noted, will tear your achilles to shreds. For that alone I think these shoes are a poor buy. When I received these shoes I tried them on. They seemed fine. I wore them in my house for a about 15 minutes. No issues. About an hour later that day I went for a walk and within about 10 minutes I could feel my heels rubbing on the backs of the shoes. Enough to leave wear through my skin and leave blood marks on the shoes.Obviously I am not going to return these but I'd like to. I did find that adding a thicker insole has helped the issue but it makes the shoe seem a little off and hasn't completely solved the problem. Still getting some rubbing so I am not sure what else to do?Anyway, keep looking and go for something else.

Wildly uncomfortable for the back ankles
Awful shoes. They tore the back of my ankle up the first time running in them. Within 30 minutes one of my ankles was actually bleeding. On top of that, the shoe is very hard and loud when running on pavement. I could get past the noise, but not the pain. I stopped and walked home. Threw the shoes away immediately. I have $60 new balances and $70 nike shoes that are both wayyyyyy better. This was my first Asics shoe and it will be my last.

Sharp, light, and comfortable!
Aloha All! I ordered this pair of ASICS Gel quantum a few days ago because part of my physical therapy for my knee was to start jogging again. I havent jogged for over 8 years since my other knee surgery (due to one of my rescue pups taking out my meniscus and mcl, due to another dog not being on leash during a jog). Anyway I loved ASICS due to them being the only band with arch support that fit me, so when I saw these I was like, 'Hey those look good!' and purchased them off the name that I knew so well! Then I read the reviews on how a lot of runners found the back high and rubbing their ankles and achilles tendon raw and to the point of bleeding! I thought, 'oh crap I just wasted money!'So i wore them today for my PT being of 40 minutes recumbent bike, 15 minutes elliptical, AND for the first time in 8 years...my first jog (30 seconds jog, 30 seconds walk, and repeat for about 2 miles) and I have to say these shoes did not disappoint!! No heel, ankle, achilles tendon soreness whatsoever!!The shoe looks great, is light, the backing seems lower than in the pictures and didn't rub my Achilles at all. Now I know everyone's different so it may not be the same for all (I have skinny to normal ankles). If thinking outside the box, it may be my Bombas socks, they have a round cushioned ridge on the back by the achilles and that may have helped, anyway the shies works for me!! Hope they work as well for you! Aloha!!

Nice looking shoe, just don't use them.
I've had these shoes for several months, and I had been satisfied with them until recently. I had been just wearing them casually, not putting them to any test. Now recently the weather has warmed, and I got back into walking, which was the original purpose for these shoes. Every time I have worn these shoes on a 3.5 mile walk, I have ended up with blisters on the balls of both feet. I have made this walk hundreds of times with many different pairs of shoes from several different manufactures. Before this pair shoes, I have never had a blister on the ball of my foot, ever.I won't be throwing them out, I'll have to buy another pair of shoes, and go back to just wearing these casually.

Great shoe great price.
These are my first pair of real running shoes. I’ve used Nike roshe for my little casual runs but now that I’m doing serious running I decided to look into other options. I was leaning more towards Nike zoom Pegasus or ASICS GT 2000 8 but found these for more than 50% and decided to give them a try. After a few runs and 10 miles later, I’ll say these definitely made a difference for me. Running with my roshes I would be sore for the next few days and my feet would ache but running with these I feel good. Casual soreness from the run but that’s about it. They are extremely comfortable and they are very light. I did see on the reviews that the back runs up against your heels. Now this doesn’t affect everyone from the looks of it but it definitely happens to me and my solution for that is to just put band aids on your heel. Once I did that the problem was gone. Now of course I shouldn’t have to do that but, the sneakers are here and I’ve been using them. I hate making returns and I hate dealing with that process. This quick fix makes these shoes great for me.Update: I ordered a pack of running socks from Amazon that go a little passed the top of my heel and that worked the same as putting the band aids there.

Very good product for hard surface running
Very light. Plenty of support for road running. For ages I was using Brooks. These are definitelly designed for better impact absorbtion. Stay tuned for my follow up review after I put 50 miles on these shoes.

Smashed my feet
I normally always buy ASICS as I normally find they fit well & are a good shoe for my road running & circuit training. This pair I wore for a 12km run that I have been doing for quite some time. As as I started I found the soles very hard & uncomfortable & actually stopped to check I hadn't left any packaging material inside them. After 6km I noticed that the heel of the shoe was rubbing on my Achilles, which I have never had before, I had to stop quite a few times on the way home & when I got home & took the sock off, these shoes had torn shreds out of my Achilles & it is still healing a week later. Also got a blister on the top of a middle toe, which I don't normally get. This size shoe was the same size I normally order.

Very comfortable
Fits as expected - very comfortable. The cushioning is great and the shoe itself is thinner than some other asics shoes. I found to be a bonus since the heat doesn't seem to get trapped.

May want to go half a size down as they're bigger make
They're comfortable and very light. Didnt realise that these shoes were a bigger make and was half a size too big but overall I'm happy with them.
