Cliff hangers with every chapter
This is the perfect classroom read aloud book! Every chapter ends with suspense and it captivates the reader and listener. My middle school studies couldn’t wait for our read aloud time every day!

Great YA book
I read this one because my 6th grade granddaughter read it last year in school and asked me to read it so we could talk about it. Glad she did. It was a great YA book!Well written. I loved the characters! Even though it's a YA book it kept me guessing until the end. There is a part 2. Ordered that tonight and will definitely read it as soon as it comes.

Great book. Nice packaging fromS
My daughter read this book with her class last year and had been requesting her own copy. It came beautifully packaged from the seller. The book was wrapped in paper and wrapped again in bubble wrap. I don’t often write product reviews, but I was very happy with this purchase and wanted to leave a positive review about the seller.

Great Condition
I was worried about the condition it was going to be in, especially for how expensive it was. However, it was in great condition :)

... this book when I was in fourth grade and loved it. I now teach fourth grade and read ...
I read this book when I was in fourth grade and loved it. I now teach fourth grade and read it with my students every year in October to pass on the love. My students love it so much that each year every class asks if there is a movie about this book. I highly recommend this book for students who are reluctant readers. I read the first six chapters aloud to the class and then the students cannot wait to finish it on their own. Each chapter ends on a cliffhanger which keeps the reader wanting more. The book is a little dated so the young one may ask about some of the items mentioned in the book. All in all, this is still one of my favorite books because it still gives me chills when I read it.

One of My Favorite Childhood Books!
I read this book for the first time when I was in the 4th grade. I'm 28 now, so you know it must have made an impact! To this day, I still love to read mystery and suspense novels and when I am picking out a book, I hold it to the "House on Hackman's Hill" standard: Will it keep me awake until 4 a.m.?I read this story over and over again and it never ceased to scare me like no other book! I'd drag it out, dust it off and then be up until all hours of the night, fighting sleep just so I could turn the next page.Even now, as I read more mature books with more complicated matter, I always think back to this book and remember the goose bumps it never failed to give me. It was a huge instrument in my love of reading and I believe in it for kids who like a good thrill.

Great mystery book, keeps your interest from start to end!
This book is by one of my favorite authors, as a kid one of the best books I read was "the mystery of hurricane castle" by by Jean Lowery Nixon - this book is perhaps as good as that one. You follow the story of a 2 kids who get stuck in the ruins of a haunted - cursed - mansion during a fierce storm. You intertwine that with the story of a now-elderly man telling the story of the mansion that he had to reside in when his mother worked at the mansion - and the story of his being hauntedby creatures wanting the return of property stolen from them by the evil professor who owned the mansion, and employed the mother. A great read, very descriptive of the mansion and environment, though a bit biased towards American culture. I found myself thinking at the end that didn't the creatures have a right to keep their jewels and such?

33 Years Later and it's STILL a Great Book!!!
This was probably at the top of my list of favorite books when I was in 5th grade. I still have my very well-loved copy but just ordered new copies of this and other various books for my kids to read and hopefully enjoy as much as I did. I was so happy to see that the book is still available 30+ years later! A great read for boys and girls. It was always the most fun to read in the dark with a flashlight. Always gave me the chills!
