Good product, just takes time and patience to master. I was inspired by a farm ledger from the 1840s belonging to a very great grandfather. His handwriting reminded me of our founding documents only with perhaps better Spencerian penmanship. I have a ways to go and may need to use a quill pen as he did. It was surprising to see a 290 pound pig sell for $8.21 or a farm hands working for $10/mo with wives on the old dairy farm.

Affordable and is easily used for any level of expertise

I purchased this one in particular because it had the highest recommended reviews on other websites of top 10. It also had the most unique combination of tips that I found to be rare on Amazon. I’m learning calligraphy writing skills for my small business ‘thank you’ letters.I LOVE the tips! I noticed in some reviews here that some people complain how the entire set is bad, but I think they’re not understanding that your ink is JUST as important as the tips and they’re supposed to work in harmony. If the ink isn’t good quality, it will throw off your entire penmanship. It’s true though that the ink is bad. It’s SUPER gloppy and watery at the same time and is so freaking pigmented that it just gets EVERYWHERE. It gums up on the tip and swooshes out as soon as you put it to paper. You can see in my photo that I demonstrate how well the tips work with better quality inks. Walnut ink is awesome. Usually I mix it with ‘doves blood’ to make it darker (not REAL doves blood it’s just what the ink is called 😂😅).This set is priced ok even though the ink is bad (the reason I gave it 4 stars), I’d still recommend it based on the tips, pen and box it comes with. You could always try and mix the black ink with another ink and see if it fixes it. But all and all, if you’re gonna buy this set, get a better quality ink with it.

I just received this and I prepared the nibs following YouTube. The ink is a bit low but worked fine on each nib. For the price, this is a great beginner set. I feel very comfortable giving it 5 stars all the way around!!

The media could not be loaded. On the pen heads, there's little holes. When you dip your pen, there's supposed to be enough ink to cover the hole. The ink sits in that hole, and slowly drains out of the hole until you run out and have to dip again.Having to dip my pen every two letters because there's not enough ink to fully cover the pen hole is annoying.Theres not even enough ink in the container to dip the pen properly. The ink barely covers the tip of most pen heads, so it damn sure won't go past the hole.This makes the pen annoying to use because you'll only have enough ink to write a couple of letters before the ink runs out.Stop cheating your customers out of ink and put more ink in this damn container.The pen is nice and all the attachments are nice, the problem is the seller being stingy with the ink, so you can't even use the pen unless you buy ink from a separate vendor so you have enough ink to properly dip the pen.People who aren't used to using calligraphy pens will get frustrated and think theyre doing something wrong, like "Damn! This pen only writes two letters at a time!" No sweetheart, they cheated you out of an adequate amount of ink to fully cover the pen head.Remember, on the metal head of the pen, there's a hole. If the ink doesn't dip deep enough to go past that hole, you don't have enough ink.Just buy more ink from a separate vendor

I needed a good basic dip pen set to learn with. These are a bit stiff and scratchy, but it is still what I need to get a feel for a lighter touch. I tend to be heavy handed so this helps me learn to back off a bit. It feels durable and the ink that comes with it is good. It seems good quality and like something I will be using for a long time.

I purchased this as a gift for a teenager who enjoys hand lettering. I can't speak to the functionality of the pens, because I did not test them. But the packaging is lovely, which makes this value set feel like a special gift. All of the pen tips were secured and shipped safely.

For beginners, sheerness is great. Love that it has options. My daughter loves it ..

This set contained everything that I needed to begin learning the art of utilizing dip pens to create nice writing and draw with ink both freehand and over my pencil lines.It has enough nibs for both calligraphy as well as drawing and even one for normal writing as you would with a fountain pen, but you can dip it and clean it and switch colors that much faster or instead of simply using multiple pens at a time. The nibs themselves are of a high enough quality to more than justify the cost of the item. I would even buy it again just for the nibs alone. This kit sent me down the rabbit hole though. I now have multiple nib holders, and about twenty different nibs, and even an oblique nib holder. And I have been using dip pens for less than a week.
