Fantastic DVD
Firstly I need to admit that I bought jillian Michaels Kettle (JM) bell DVD followed by Raise some Bell (RSB) and finally Kettle bell for Beginners (KFB)So I think this'll be somewhat of a comparison review .Also I have done Kettle bells since before they were huge in the uk, I always wanted a DVD and having recently decided to dust off my 16kg bell, a DVD seemed the best alternative to a class or on my own doing repetitive drills.Let me first off say of all three this is my favourite . Firstly, the way the instructor explains and shows the moves is second to none. I felt Jillians was too quick and RSB a bit muddled. KFB The techniques focus is calmly professional and the friendly manner was really the highlight . The tropical backdrop was so relaxing. I would choose this style any day.Next ,I thought the pace is amazing!! Let me explain, there is a tutorial which acts as a workout for first timers and great for returners. After a week, I went back to the tutorial to improve my technique as I know that I was guilty of banging the bell into my wrist. As a workout- not just a how to it is a welcomed approach.Of all the three, RSB seemed to be the hardest without guidance and build up. She just launches into difficult moves and I was confused and disheartened maybe I'll return after KFB. About the latter, the best instruction and moves no question. It builds up slowly and at the right pace and you never feel lost. Even as you get better you maybe do more reps to challenge yourself . The best indicator is that I want more. It's great that there are combo drills for beginners as you know what you can work up to. With JM the exercises are single sets moving from one to the other. That said they are different styles, I just preferred KFB.There is an ab workout which I haven't done yet, but I am pretty sure I'll love it.In summary of the three KFB is great for beginners and returners, great for technique and has enough to keep you going. The best part is after two weeks of every other day 3x a week, I've already noticed the difference and feel I can't wait for my next session

Not For Everyone
I'm a middle aged guy who is new to Kettlebells and along with my wife, we decided to buy a set each and felt it best we watched a DVD first to ensure we are getting the most out of it. Some 25 years ago, I was a gym regular and I was used to lifting weights, my wife is more into cardio vascular exercise. I will be honest now, if I were scoring this on my opinion alone, I would score this an easy three stars, a debatable 4 star, my wife however would give this six stars if she could.I was hoping for more muscle building strength related exercises, forget it, this DVD is aimed at strengthening your core and it is definitely more cardio vascular, I don't believe many beginners will keep up with the opening 25 minute session so you might need to pause it a few times, it really does take your breathe away. My recommendation would be to start off with a very low kettlebell weight, you really do need to master the technique and improve or work on your core and balance to get the most out of this and you are not going to do it with a heavy Kettlebell. It is very easy to follow but not very easy to keep up, beginners as in the explanation yes but don't let the word beginners fool you if you are looking for a cardio vascular workout, its tough. Ladies you will love this DVD and the guys who are not looking to build much muscle mass will too. Men looking to increase strength and muscle density, this DVD is not for you, well not on its own. I would suggest getting it still but only so that you can work on your core and technique.

What it says on the tin
I'm brand new to kettlebells. Having bought a more advanced DVD I decided I needed a bit of an intro. This does exactly that. It's pretty basic, but explains the hows of using a kettlebell. The main guy is your typical host 'i love this exercise' 'can't you just feel your glutes burning', but he is clear and not as annoying as some hosts can be.The dvd has three sections, the intro, a combo section and a core section, and there is a mode to do all three as one long workout. Each section is just under 30 minutes.Don't be fooled that as a beginners dvd it won't be hard work. I can definately feel it in my muscles the next day.The only con I have is that there is no discussion/advice on what weight of kettlebell to use.All in all, this is a good start to the kettlebell. I don't think it's one I will stick with after a month of use (hopefully by then I can move onto my harder core Bob Harper dvd) but as a workout for beginners I'd say it was pretty much spot on.
