If you saw a DIY use for this vise as an compound bow vise, do not purchase this. Buy nice or buy twice. This is not the tool for that job. Solid built product that serves well as a electronics or jewelry vise.

Bad deal for the money doesn't stick to the surface

This vise is fantastic as a hobby vise, and probably much more. I think Central Forge is a Harbor Freight name, as I am seeing this vise there. Most of the complaints have to do with the holding power. I cleaned the bottom of the vise using 91% alcohol, as well as the surfaces used for testing the holding power. The first surface was a lightly pebbled art desk, and the vise held for maybe 30 seconds! The next surface was a laminate countertop. The holding was amazing! It is still holding after 4 hours, and I have tried to move it every hour or so using quite a bit of force, and it isn't moving!The other features of the vise are really nice too. I like the green finish, as it is smooth and seems fairly thick. The base holds the vise in place quite easily, and adjusts very easily, as the ball has a surface that grips when the ring is tightened. The rubber pads on the jaws are removable, and under them are metal faces, with horizontal and vertical groves for holding round objects. I like it!
