Lovely music. Intermediate level. 3rd string F# takes practice to read and once learned makes it easier to play. Audio recordings are precise. It will take me years to get to all this music, but I’m on my way.

Nice selection of pieces. Well laid out and edited with some suggestions for fingerings. Good place to start playing the music of this great composer. The songs are good, too.

Steve Siktberg has faithfully honored the original manuscripts that John Dowland had composed for the 40 Lute solos included in this book.Some important things to note:- You will need a capo (mostly used on the third fret)- You should be intermediate to advanced level- Although Lute music was written like guitar tab, this collection written in standard notation- You can also play these pieces on a steel-string acoustic and they sound equally beautifulI have been a lifelong classical guitar player and enthusiast and love the works of Bach and find these compositions, although not a difficult as Bach, equally challenging and sublime.A must have.

This is a lovely book. I am playing these tunes on a steel string and find the lute tuning used here works nicely. There is a range of difficulty and some are more challenging than others. The selection is arranged so that you move from the easier pieces to more difficult. I look forward to many hours of pleasure with this selection. Thank you Steve for a beautiful collection.
