Perfect book for children
I got this to discuss with my 6 year old son, what could happen when people die, after he lost his grandpa, then a few months later. His great grandma. He has mentioned this book on several occasions regarding their bodies and where they may be now. This book is beautiful, open-minded, and doesn't push one way of thinking. It is exactly what I was looking for to simply explain what has happened and to create an open dialogue with him about the possibilities of what is to come. Instead of providing answers, this book creates an opportunity to discuss thoughts, feelings, and possibilities with your child. It is perfect and I am forever grateful to have found it.

Yes, buy it
I just received this book yesterday and I already love it. My daughter wanted to read it by herself (which in hindsight, maybe not the best idea) as soon as we got it, I went into her room after a few minutes and she was in TEARS. I asked her what was on her mind and she told me she was crying happy tears. We finished the book together and I must say, I teared up too. Then we had a nice chat about life and death. It is beautifully written and explains the topic clearly and concisely. It's not preachy about one religion or another, just different beliefs. My daughter has recently become rather anxious about death and I knew I had to do something to help her (and maybe help myself, too). It can be a heavy subject, but this is a great segway. I highly recommend it.

Beautiful way to explain death without pushing a particular belief
Absolutely loved this book would highly recommend to anyone with young kids. I was searching for a book about death as we are expecting my two and half year olds dog and grandpa to both pass in the near future. We are not a religious family but I also wanted to tell my daughter something positive and peaceful when the time came. This book tells about different ideas about what happens after death as well as different ideas to remember your loved one. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful and very unique as well. My only complaint is the fact that it came from Amazon in a bubble mailer/bag instead of a box so it was folded when our mail carrier shoved it in our mailbox and now won’t lay flat. I’m sure it can be fixed with a couple more heavy books stacked on top for awhile and don’t want to part with it long enough to mail back to Amazon for a replacement. Overall beautiful book I think I’ll order another to have on hand as a sympathy gift.

Doing Therapy with children
I'm an AMFT who works with children and schools and this book is a must have when working with grief. It explains death with multiculturalism in mind and doesn't push on a single religion. It also has some pages asking the child what they think happens after death and who they have lost etc.

Gentle, honest; perfectly balanced for all ages
From the simple, honest text to the origami-meets-grafitti-meets-whimsy art style, this book checked all the boxes for our kids ages 4 through 11. In fact, I even found it comforting. We love that it addresses both the physical and spiritual aspects of death, presenting different worldviews. It even creates opportunities for personal reflection by asking a few well-placed, thoughtful questions. I had one crying and another kid awkwardly making jokes to cover his sadness, and it felt like this book spoke directly to both of them. And did I mention the artwork? This book was truly a treasure in a dark time.

Thank you for this book!
This is a well written non-denominational book to start the conversation around death. Death can be scary. This subject can be discussed with children and this book helps start the conversation.

Soothing and open ended
We bought two books on death and this is the favorite. It has a gentle tone as it explains that when someone dies their heart stops beating, lungs stop breathing, and the brain stops. It goes on to say some people believe in Heaven, some believe in reincarnation, etc. It invites you to have conversations about what you believe and how you feel about death. It was very soothing and made my 7 year old feel better.

Tender Truths For Old And Young
This book is a gem. In the words of my (almost) 10 year old, "This books really teaches you about death AND life. It's really good. The pictures are really unique." I couldn't agree more. I personally LOVED this book upon first read but wasn't sure if it would be too frank for my sensitive kiddo. However, she assured me that it is a good book and she appreciates the fact that the author doesn't just gloss over the realities of life, death, loss, etc. Also, I volunteer in Hospice care and have shared this book with other volunteers and our Hospice chaplain (she gives it a thumbs up, too!). Love it!

Stunning, humbling and beautifully put together
Just just lovely! It helps ME as a 41 year old let alone my 4 year old. I find it really easy to read and elaborate inviting her to ask questions. The book breaks it down, I don't know why sometimes we feel we should come up with flamboyant tall tales for kids when the truth is simple and understandable for them. Beautiful illustrations, I will buy for friend's kids given a chance. Thank you xx
