Newhart: The Complete 1980s TV Series Seasons 1-8 DVD

If you like the dry humor and the delivery of Bob Newhart than you will love this series. All the 8 seasons bundled together at a great price. Mary Frann plays the perfect wife with the bumbling Tom Poston as the repairman. The quality of season 1 was not as good as it was recorded on video tape and the other seasons were recorded on film. Great if you want to revisit an old classic television show. And you gotta love Larry, Darryl & Darryl. Don't miss the historic final episode of season 8.

Glad I found this series on DVD. Has been difficult finding it to watch, even with all the streaming options available. So far the quality has been good. I'm not real "techy" but I don't think these have been remastered. Still they are fine for enjoying Newhart, Tom Poston, and the rest of the Bed & Breakfast characters.

I have wanted this set for the longest time. It's been in my wishlist for months, maybe even a couple of years.How I wish I'd looked at the reviews again before ordering! I would have seen recent ones that outline the problems I'm having. The discs from Season one are packaged differently than the rest. The back of the box lists them as "Subtitled in English" "Subtitled in Spanish" and, most especially, "Subtitled in Erench" (sic).I have a new LG external disc player that handles both regular DVDs and Blu-Rays, and multiple regions. I have a fully paid, latest version, Cyberlink Power DVD software installed on my laptop.Yet when I put any of the season one discs into the player, it sits there spinning with a black screen for the longest time before declaring that Cyberlink can't find a file on the disc.I put a season two disc in. This time, Cyberlink couldn't even find the disc!Just in case something had gone wrong with the LG player since I used it two days ago, I inserted a disc from that play session. It worked perfectly.I will be returning these DVDs promptly. I'm well within the return period, so I don't expect there to be any trouble. I'll update if there is.

I loved them! Very entertaining! But two episodes wouldn’t play! We have a limited time to return products, but when you buy such a big serries it’s impossible to know if they all work! We should be given more time.It took me months to get to the episodes that didn’t play. They were the last two at the end of the one of the season. So be aware!

Love this set of Newhart Show!! Brings back so many memories of watching it every week. Funny great entertainment! Love Bob Newhart and the rest of the cast!

A predominance of unlikeable characters is there from the start and after eight seasons is intolerable. I'm an native Vermonter and never knew anyone like the townies depicted.And supporting characters like Larry and the Darryls are side-dishes, not main courses. By the end of the run, it was basically the Stephanie & Michael Show and unwatchable for it.We ended up giving the whole run to a thrift store.

This is my favorite Newhart show. The first season was done on video, then subsequent seasons were filmed, which is preferable. It didn't take the crew long to get into the swing of this show's setting! Some great comedy setups, one-liners, and those hilarious pauses -- You can't beat Bob!
