Unique Watch
I may have to come revise this at some point, but I'll go with 4 stars for now. The Jomashop fulfillment though Amazon was quick and the watch is authentic and works as it should and is new - no funny business. People are concerned about the warranty and legitimacy on these deals - understandably so and I was too. However, this is an inexpensive watch as they go and the dramatic cost savings made it worth the risk for me - everyone has to make up their own mind on that. It's the first time I have done a non AD watch but everything worked out so far - the watch was new in the box with all the packaging and wrapped in the original protective clear plastic on all metal surfaces. That's the transaction business, now the watch:It is not something you can set up without a manual and there's even a good video on the Victorinox site to help. At first the hands were not aligned correctly. It is more or less easy and documented for aligning the chrono, but the time mode is vexing and undocumented: if you want the minute hand to point to the indicators, you must pull the crown when the second hand is just at 12, and then set the minutes, otherwise the minute hand might point to 1/3 or 2/3 intermediate points as the second hand passes 12; the minute hand moves partially every 20 seconds. It took a bit of fiddling to discover this and for a moment I thought the watch was defective - although that seemed unlikely and my experience with quartz chromos in the past had taught me that the hands can get out of whack as a matter of course. It's a good looking watch with decent heft but not bulky looking or too sporty. The band is very soft leather and looks nice. The silver hands on the gold dial are easy enough to read - better than many. The main reason for this watch though is the unique movement and chrono feature that uses the entire face of the clock as the hr/min/sec counters rather than small unreadable sub-dials. That's the main purpose I bought it for.It is hard to find watches that at least provide the central minutes counter. A few discontinued TAGs did including the Calibre S models (discontinued in the US at least but a few still on Amazon and eBay), the Swiss Army Dive Master Chrono does (using the same movement as the discontinued TAG Aquaracer, etc) - there's a current Breitling Colt II that uses it as well and a couple of Certinas (that seem really difficult to get in the US). There's also at least one Chase Durer that uses that same ETA 251.262 movement too. Same base movement doesn't necessarily mean same watch quality though. This Victorinox movement is unique - very similar to the TAG Calibre S (same base movement for both from Soprod) with both having the dual purpose perpetual calendar and 1/100 second counter sub-dials along the bottom. For automatic watches, the choices are even fewer: there's the Breitling Skyracer and the Sinn EZM 10 - these are both expensive watches. My Skyracer is back to Breitling for repairs so I thought why not try out something as functional, less expensive, more accurate, and possibly / hopefully less troublesome.

Beautiful watch, faulty movement.
I purchased this watch 3 times and sent all of them back. Let's start with the good. This is a gorgeous watch. Very eye-catching, flawless case and dial build quality. The strap looks great, feels nice on the wrist, but had a bit of a rubbery feel to it. Nothing to really be concerned about, just a comment. The bad is unfortunately the part I was looking forward to most, the movement. It's an interesting movement build by the Swiss company Soprod and from what I understand it was designed just for Victorinox. The problem lies in the set up. There's a complex way to set the time and perpetual calendar, but the booklet and online video do a great job of explaining how to do it. The second hand's position indicates what mode you are in, such as minute hand adjustment, hour hand adjustment, year, month, or day. However, when I went to set the time and date the second hand did not match up with the positions outlined in the booklet or video. Whatever, it's probably just off a bit. Unfortunately when I got to set the month it only allowed me to choose between 3 or 4 for the first number, which would be month 31, 32...41,42, etc. So I sent it back. The next two did the same thing but with the second hand in different positions each time and the month numbers different each time. Presumably the lower number would indicate a 0 for the first number of the month. Also, on one watch it would switch between AM and PM at 4 o'clock. Maybe it would have worked, but the variance between the three watches led me to believe that it had poor quality control and would give me problems in the future. If this description makes no sense, watch this video about how to set the time, skip to 2:36.[...]

Beware of vendor and product!! Paid a significant amount of money for this watch in January, 2014. Defective when received. Returned to Jomashop for repairs. Despite claims of regular updates, none were forthcoming without prompting. Returned again to me defective--again a problem with the chronometer, not precisely the same, but close enough to suggest it had never been bench tested or tried before returning it to me. Sent for repairs again early May, 2014, receipt by Jomashop confirmed. Never heard from them until I made another inquiry on August 1, 2014. Indicated the repaired watch was being shipped to them by the manufacturer as our communications were being exchanged and I should receive it in @ 1 week. Never heard from them again, never received the watch, nothing until I inquired again this week. Now they indicate the watch is not repairable. I requested a refund, which they denied. Indicate they offer only store credits or a new replacement. 10 months!! No watch, no refund. Be very careful with these folks.

Beautiful design, Comfortable, Elegant
Probably one of the most beautiful watches I've ever seen. Will come back to update this after I've worn it for a couple of days.UPDATE: Second hand gets stuck at the top and ticks back and forth. Loses time fairly quickly.UPDATE 2: JUST required a new battery. Watch holds time perfectly and works very well.

Beware Unauthorized Dealer
I have worn Victorinox for years. Replaced old one recently and received order in a timely fashion. 3 weeks later the watched stopped. I know inventory sits on the shelf for ages and was sure it was an old battery. When the watch maker opened the case he said it wasn’t the battery, the internal workings were so dirty it just stopped. It’s been cleaned and works for now but I am concerned if that much dirt can get in how waterproof is it. The watch is not returnable now so I will just have to kept my fingers crossed.Update: the watch did stop again. Seller referred me to the manufacturer with no guarantee the warranty will be honored because they are unauthorized seller.

Watch arrived dead. As many of the other reviewers said, the watch arrives without a pulse. It wasn't ticking and could not be set.
