Great Camera
Purchased this for monitoring outside my home. I have it placed about 100 feet away from my house on my shop about 10 feet off the ground aiming facing the front of my house. It has no problem staying connected to my ATT U-Verse router. I have it set up to take video when motion occurs. The max length of video clips that it will take is 10 seconds each. The motion detection works fine, it will detect a car going down the road or person walking by in the road about 150 feet away whether it is night or day. I have security lighting around my house and the camera has a good picture at night. I put a 32gb SD card in the camera and with it receiving about 15 videos per day, the SD card lasts about 2 1/2 weeks before it gets full and begins recording over files. You can view the files on the SD card on the MyDlink website. I don't use it, but if you want you can have the video or pictures sent to your email. Multiple D-Link cameras of different types can be viewed on the MyDlink site with no fees. The camera has been reliable and had no problems. I am purchasing more to cover other areas of my yard.

I purchased the camera after reading many of the posted comments and would like to add my own and based on using a ...
April 2016 update. D Link just dropped support for Quicktime for this camera. I can no longer access the SD card from my MacBook, iPad and iPhone. Dlink technical service said the only work around was to use the VLC Media player. I tried but there is no integration with the MY Dlink Lite app. In essence, a previously noted unless you can easily access the SD card to read it externally, which I can't the camera is now useless.Installed the camera in mid-July 2015. The camera works very well for my needs, security for off street parking in Center City Philadelphia, PA. I purchased the camera after reading many of the posted comments and would like to add my own and based on using a MacBook Pro for setup, maintenance and firmware upgrades:Pros: The camera is very water resistant, surviving my pressure washing the wood deck the camera is mounted on. I put an outdoor floodlight to illuminate the area and have had no problems with night time recording. The camera recorded several "door checkers", the locals who prowl the streets checking car doors to find unlocked cars. The camera function very well during several heavy rainfalls. The camera records to an SD card which is working for my needs.Cons: The initial setup is confusing, especially for a Mac because there is no indication of either progress or if a problem has occurred. Specifically the steady or blinking green or red light does not match up with the instructions. I finally just let the setup go for 1/2 hour and everything worked. The bigger problem is having to connect the camera directly to my Airport Router (my Internet is supplied by Comcast) to complete firmware upgrades, 3 so far. A security camera should not be easily accessible to function correctly and having to get a ladder to remove and reinstall the camera is problematic. The camera also goes offline for no apparent reason and requires a reboot.D Link Technical Support: Per these, AR004239, Ref # C6735699 and ID AR004639 Ref # C6710124, Technical Support is very good, quickly solving both problems I create and problems resulting from firmware upgrades. If/when D Link allows firmware updates with the camera in place, the product will be better for installations such as mine.

Won't set up and NO support
Purchased this camera (DCS-2330L) for outdoor surveillance along with their video recorder. Initial setup requires downloading a Wizard setup software which is supposed to recognize the camera when connected to your router with an Ethernet cable. Presumably after the camera is recognized you can then set up a dLink account and reestablish wireless connection. I have tried several times to get the software to recognize the camera with poor results. After fiddling with it (basically cycling the software numerous times) on one occasion I was able to get it to find the camera but then with Ethernet cable disconnected and the camera less than two feet from the router it couldn't make wireless connection. When I re-connected Ethernet cable (This should be a no-brainer direct link to the camera!!!) the software once again couldn't find it. I have sent several messages to their support (THERE IS NO PHONE SUPPORT LISTED!!) and have yet to get a response. A search on the internet resulted in numerous complaints about poor quality and poor or non-existent support. Although I will keep trying to contact their support - and maybe everything will finally work - I am not hopeful that this will end well. I purchased this with their video recorder (smaller than a smartphone and apparently only a parallel link to the computer and up to two hard drives) and one 2TByte hard drive and probably will have to return complete setup. I would NOT purchase another dLink product and do not recommend them. (EDIT) After filing three support complaints I did receive an email with instructions for setup. (Same instructions as their downloaded setup!). I did follow the instructions to the letter just to make sure and the setup failed. Not once but three times! I spent approximately six hours total trying to set the camera up and the only suggestion per their instructions was if you can't set it up wireless then use Ethernet. This is a WIRELESS camera and they want me to use Ethernet cable. Another comment - for a camera that is supposed to be used outdoors the power cable is permanently attached hence if you want to connect to an inside AC outlet (DUH!!!) then you would have to drill a three inch hole through you wall (brick in my case). I can't vouch for their other products but if this camera is any indication the quality sucks. I contacted Amazon and I'm returning today!

Best Choice for a cost effective and easy to setup full featured surveillance solution.
This camera is great, HD video, app for cell phone works great. motion and sound detection, email alerts were all very easy to setup. if you have a Dlink cloud router its plug and play anyone can do it, you don't have to worry about port forwarding if you are not technically inclined. i set mine up with to record to my NAS with the software. i have mine recording 24/7 and the software shows you when a motion or and event has occurred so you can review it. Easy to setup that too, and you can set it to record for as many days as you want then wipe the old recordings and record over it. No need for a DVR. Is perfect for home and business. If you have a power failure it automatically reconnects to the WiFi on its own, powerful reception and wireless range extender feature is nice too. Also has an Ethernet line for those who choose not to use WiFi. Mine stands up to heavy rain, snow and freezing temperatures and has never let me down. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a cost effective and easy to use surveillance solution. The sound recording is nice too because in the event of some disturbance it captures everything said very clearly. This can be very useful if someone disputes saying what they said you can review the conversation. Awesome!!!!
