Our dog loves this toy - it has become the new 'favourite', relegating his other old Tuffy's toys to the storage box. Although not as tough on the scale as the octopus toy (rated a 10), so far it is standing up well, partly due I suspect to his rather 'gentler' approach to toys (now he is no longer a puppy and wanting to rip things apart). In fact he takes the monkey into his bed and falls asleep on it.I never buy anything other than these Tuffy toys which stand up to lots of canine abuse. If you have a dog that likes to chew I would expect that this monkey toy would be vulnerable to a persistent chewer. Ours used to display the chewing capabilities of a beaver so we never bought anything less than 10 on the Tuffy's scale so they would at least last a reasonable amount of time. Fortunately he has grown out of that phase now so we can consider other Tuffy's toys.

Purchased Emery for my nine month old puppy. I have other Tuffy toys that are fifteen years old, still intact, and has made the test of time and durability with five other dogs. The toy is not inexpensive at almost £29. After one week, Emery is missing a tusk. Should be noted that my puppy doesn’t chew any of his toys. He carries and throws them, rinse and repeat. Emery is now awaiting surgery to repair the missing tusk hole.

Our 10 week old Cockerpoo puppy has just about finished off one Tusk already, after a short time.

Super toy. Larger than you might think, but perfect for cocker spaniels and larger breeds. The tail, tusks and ears (and trunk) are the first to be chewed and pulled off but with a bit of nifty stitching you can have it good as new in no time.My lot are chewers and like to find a way in to destuff, and eventually they do. But even after most of the stuffing is gone, what is left is something that they carry around like a rag and play with, so it really does have longevity if you don't mind the stuffing clearing up. Many toys I have bought them last literally seconds before squeaker is out and stuffing fills the rug, but the Tuffy toys last several days before they get into them (I still have some intact) and I still have the remains that are played with regularly. So all in all a value piece of kit that dogs love!

'Nelly' arrived and was duly wrapped for Christmas morning - one very excited chocolate lab opened his present and was delighted with his gift!! Unfortunately less than 20 mins later 'Nelly' was a shadow of her former self after the quickest crash diet in history. The stuffing covered the floor along with gift wrap and bows - Oscar had a fabulous 20 mins but for the price I was hoping for a few weeks out of her at least!! He has had the crocodile (the best yet - over 12 months old and just missing a lower jaw and feet), the turkey (another good choice as this lasted very well too, again the head has gone but still lots of feathers in tact), tiger (lasted quite a while) but his latest 2 'Nelly' and the lobster (also for Christmas off Aunty Kelly) only lasted minutes!! Oscar is a Labrador so doesn't have strongest jaw strength in the doggy world so a disappointing purchase overall.

I love this brand, bought items for all 4 of my Dalmatians in the past.. They normally last quite a while, BUT my latest Dal can get through one in 45min. What I'm saying is, amazing brand for the right dog.

beautiful looking toy. unfortunately lasted 2hrs...may be OK got less destructive dogs
