Coffee Bottomless Portafilter for EC680/EC685 Filter 51MM Replacement Filter Basket Coffee Accessories

I was looking for a bottomless portafilter to replace the standard portafilter and pressurised basket included with the DeLonghi Dedica EC685. This product met my requirements.As will all bottomless portafilters, you need to aim for even coffee distribution in the basket and tamp down firmly. I found a slightly finer grind was necessary over the standard portafilter. Bottomless portafilters are less forgiving, but it's great when you get things just right and you see that single stream of coffee.You do gain some additional clearance for your mug/shot glass, but you lose the ability to split shots, which was not an issue for me as I rarely need to do this.I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to try a bottomless portafilter with the DeLonghi Dedica EC685.

Nice looking and well made portafiller. However, the basket part doesn't form a tight enough seal for De’Longhi Dedica Style EC 685.M.The coffee spurts out from the top of the basket. I thought at first it was just my technique. So I tried tamping more and tamping less and using different sized grounds, etc.I've tried using the original portafiller handle supplied with the machine with the unpressured basket and it still spurts out. I've put the pressured basket that came with the machine into this handle and that works fine.So I have concluded that perhaps just a change of basket is needed?As you can see from the photos the lip of the basket is about 1mm narrower all round compared to the original Dedica basket, so this may be the problem.

Excellent item, just what I was looking for. Fits the Delonghi Dedica perfectly and is much better quality that the manufacturer item. Even comes with an unpressurised basket which was a bonus. Works well to make the Delonghi a much more versatile espresso machine.

This is the worst piece of equipment that I’ve bought for coffee - would encourage everybody to avoid at all costs. It doesn’t seal correctly, it loses coffee from random holes in the product and is not fit for purpose. I’ve changed variables i.e grind set, distribution, tamp and yet it still under extracts espresso. You will not be able to hit the 20-30 second extraction mark with this product either. The one star amazon makes you select does not even merit a star. Avoid.

Coffee sprays everywhere. I've replaced it with a better 'non-amazon' one which was about the same price but in a different league of quality.

Solid well made portafilter, weighs about 280g - almost the same as the native Dedica’s one. Requires at least 16g of coffee to be tempered in, better 17 or even 18g (still testing) - as opposed to 12-13g max in default pressurized portafilter.Taste becomes more complete and balanced if you do a proper fine grind and temper strongly, all these reviews are true!The only cons so far: it slightly splashes all around in the beginning of extraction, so I need to lift the cup - hope more coffee will make the fluid denser and this issue will be fixed.

Took a chance on this as an upgrade to the pressurised baskets the Dedica comes with.Was a month getting to the UK but it's nicely made and fits perfectly.You must have a proper espresso grinder to make this kind of portafilter work properly. If the coffee is not fine enough it will channel and spray coffee everywhere and it will taste watery.I did try it with Illy pre ground decaff which I use occasionally and that is just about ok if you are careful with your tamping.

Works well so far still experimenting really good value better made than I thought it would be 😃
