My son loves this chessboard! I bought it for him for Chess Club since a regulation chess board was needed. The weight is good. The magnet strength is okay. I love that everything wraps up in one bag. I do feel like the bag could be a little bit wider to accommodate a scorebook. Or whatever that book is that they use writing down the moves. The one I bought does not fit. I would say the quality is decent! There are quite a few people at Chess Club that have nicer boards, but this one is relative to the price. My son is 11 1/2 and this is very easy for him to pack up on the go. I feel like it’s durable and won’t get damaged.

This chess set is an excellent value for anyone who wants an inexpensive chess set to take on trips or to chess meets. Also compact enough for storing and using at space challenged apartments or studios. The hollow plastic pieces are weighted with magnets and come with felt bottoms. The set is just as described by Yellow Mountain. The mat unrolled and lay flat without any issues. I bought my set after viewing sets brought to games by other players. Excellent features and excellent value.

This is a well made regulation chess set with sturdy playing pieces, a reasonably good flexible mat, and a reasonably well made carrying bag. There are bags for the chess pieces and extra queens. The only missing Item would be a clear plastic tube to hold the mat. I am currently keeping it rolled with 3 pieces of double sided velcro.

If you want a chess set that's better than a $10 set with hollow pieces and a folded cardboard board, this will do very nicely. But it wasn't what I was hoping for so I returned it.I wasn't expecting an awesome chess set, but I wanted pieces that felt weighted in my hand and were black and white. The white was more of a pearl off-white, and most of the pieces felt too light. The pawns almost felt hollow. The board was fine but a little thin. There were no defects so I'd say it was worth what I paid for it.

I ordered this chess set for my children. I learned how to play on a Staunton design set--I always liked the look and feel of the set. I was very pleased when I received the set as it was very similar to the one I had learned on. The weight of the pieces is adequate and my children have no problems confusing the pieces with one another (a problem with many sets I have seen). I don't like playing with the roll up chess board at home as I find a regular board is better but the roll up board is great to travel with.Very pleased with this chess set!

I’ve played several matches now. I must say I love this chess set. The size of the board. The portability. The heaviness of the pieces. The carrying case. The only complaint is that the soft board developed a crease on a corner that needed to be flattened out with something heavy. Other than that it’s a great price point for a portable and travel friendly full size chess set.

I can appreciate all of the chess sets that are styled in wood, stone and metal, yet when it comes to professional or unhindered play of the game, simple is better. The pieces are weighted perfectly and the board is simple professional and regulation size. Its my choice in semi pro chess play and in a chess club setting. Easily transportable in the travel bag included.

I bought this set along with the vinyl mat and use it to play at chess club down at beach. It is my best set if I am taking it anywhere - light enough to transport, yet stable enough for speed chess, or outdoor chess on uneven surfaces. I already had a couple of wooden sets. This set is better than either of my previous sets. The pieces have wide enough bases that they are stable for speed chess or at the beach. The good thing about this set is that it is relatively light thus I can carry it to the beach on my bike along with a clock. For this, I do not roll the board, I just fold it in half and then thirds. The King is 90 mm high with a 36 mm base diameter, so there is a good ratio between height and diameter, which makes the piece stable. These specs are now published in the Amazon product description.Weighting: The weighting is small cylinder magnets that slip into holes in bottom, with felt glued over top. When the set came, one of the magnets from a pawn was out. I easily put it back in place, but it came out repeatedly, so I glued it into the hole, and since then has been fine. The weights are magnetic, which is a bit of a nuisance since the pieces often stick together as pairs when stored. But this ensured the little magnets don't get lost, should they fall out.Board: The board is vinyl as opposed to silicon. At first I thought a silicon board would be better, so I bought one separately, but then I discovered that the vinyl is only a third the weight. It is similar with the best sets I have found. The king base is 40% of it's height, and the rook is a very stable 69%Customer Service: The customer service has been fantastic. They addressed the problem of the loose weight immediately, even though I didn't think it was any real problem. And they seem to have posted the specifications for at least the king and queen on the Amazon page - Height, Width and weight. So you really know what you are getting.
