This book is bias against public educators
Here's the problem that I have with this book. On page 26, Robin Marvel chooses to slam public education. As a public educator for 28 years, I take offense to the fact that she generalizes all public educators into one lump sum. I plan to finish the book. However, I doubt that I will recommend it to or read it with my staff because at my school we all love and support our children. My personal ACEs score is a 3. It is a large part of my life's work to find out how to support children who have a high score. Again, I believe the intent is good, however, generalizing any one group is unfair and biased in nature. Marvel should know her audience.

Simple yet profound
I have read multiple books on this subject. Most provide deep, scientific data and studies that most definitely help. But then they leave me wanting for effective exercises and tools.Robin’s book gives us the meat and potatoes of healing. No need to add in the thrills that are little more than ink on paper. Her exercises gave me just what I needed to further my healing process.I can’t thank you enough, Ms. Marvel.

This is a life changing book
Honestly, I have never read a book that defines childhood trauma so completely and adeptly. My understanding of the psychological ramifications left from the abuses that are endured during childhood, has grown substantially. Robins level of expertise in the arena of Childhood Trauma is amazing, her clear and concise experiences educated me immensely. The knowledge she expresses helps the reader to understand the multiple layers which allow those effected with trauma to start applying the principals gained within the pages of this remarkable book. Robin gives support and explanations to enlighten the reader for beginning the healing process from the physical, emotional, and psychological damage done.I think the reader will find the exercises throughout this book very helpful. Exercises such as these can be useful in identifying the problem and moving forward into the solution. When we can “do” something, it helps us move to a feeling of power, which leads us to a place we can help ourselves and learn about change. This book helps to give those who has suffered from the exposure of childhood trauma, freedom from the shame and agony due to the assaults they had experienced. The road to recovery can be started through this incredible book. This is a must read for those who want to become the whole person they were designed to be, prior to the trauma they endured during their childhoods. Thank you, Robin, for your dedication and willingness to write this book, we know how much work went into it! I

This is not a professional self help book
This is not a professional self help book. It is written by a person who feels she overcame childhood trauma because she pulled herself up by her bootstraps. Cool - I admire her tenacity to overcome a traumatic childhood. But not what I am looking for. I am looking to actually heal my old wounds not just think positively about myself. Because you can feel positively about yourself and still need to heal childhood wounds. And while I don't disagree that taking action on your life will help with recovery - it is surface action to make you feel better. It doesn't address actually healing the wounds. So for me it was not worth the money.
