Special story, a rare find
Wonderful book — the illustrations are so beautiful, and the family portrayal so special and rare. Recommend for all LGBTQ families, and all families period! We loved the family representation and also the depiction of an urban environment — living in an apartment, biking, going to a busy farmers market. Really a gem. The story itself is a little confusing for very young audiences, but the illustrations make it one to keep revisiting for years to come.

Child friendly pictures and text
I bought this for our 3 year old classroom to add some more representation of diverse families. The children enjoy the simple text and illustrations. It's not preachy, just a picture of a living family.

Beautiful story about an LGBT+ family
My non binary partner and I read this to our 5 month old and will continue to read it to him as he gets older so that he can see there can be love in ALL families. Beautifully illustrated.

A sweet story with a loving message
This charming picture book is a gentle celebration of the loving relationship between a toddler and parents. The family in it just happens to have two moms. Manushkin uses catchy wordings and bouncy rhymes to elevate this over many "day in the life" books. It's the bedtime section that will win readers' hearts, however, as the family watches stars, fireflies, and animals getting ready for the night, then reads a few stories, woven in with messages of love. Readers of all ages should love winding down for bed along with them.Illustrator Kate Alizadeh's images play an equal part in showing the feelings of this family for each other as they smile, play, and hug throughout the book. The love on their faces is obvious. Additionally, one of the moms is a rare example of a children's-book mom with a more masculine gender expression--she sports an undercut hairstyle, a tattoo, jeans, and a tank top. (The other mom wears a t-shirt and skirt.)The book isn't about queerness or gender expression, though, even as it expands the gender expressions usually seen in children's books. The story would work with parents of any gender. The love between parents and children is evident on every page, in both the words and pictures, and that's the real point. This simple and sweet tale for toddlers and preschoolers has a message that should appeal to families of all types, even as it's bound to become a particular favorite in many two-mom households.

True Representation Looks Like This
A lovely book featuring family connection and support! Could be two moms, could be a mom and genderqueer parent, but is definitely a picture of what loving parents look like. ^_^

No “mommy daddy”, with beautiful illustrations!
One of my three year old’s new favorite books! Received it in our “Our Shelves” subscription box, and couldn’t be more pleased. After one question about where the “mommy and daddy” are, she started focusing on the other details, like the squirrel in the tree and the “panda bamboo.” Lovely!
